Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

Must-Have

1. ServiceNow SAM / SAM Pro implementation expertise – Hands-on experience in software models, entitlements, normalization, reclamation, and reconciliation to establish accurate compliance positions.

2. Strong software licensing knowledge – Solid understanding of license metrics, contracts, compliance concepts, and audit-readiness practices across major software publishers.

3. ServiceNow scripting and automation capability – Proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, Flow Designer, and IntegrationHub for scalable platform automation.

4. Integration and data-source experience – Experience integrating SCCM, Intune, JAMF, Flexera, procurement/ERP systems, and CMDB/ITAM data sources with ServiceNow using REST/SOAP and platform best practices.

5. Reporting, compliance, and optimization focus – Ability to create dashboards, compliance reports, and audit evidence packs while identifying optimization opportunities and cost savings.

Good-to-Have

1. ServiceNow certifications – CSA is preferred,



and CIS-SAM is a strong advantage for candidates expected to contribute to mature SAM implementations.

2. ITIL Foundation knowledge – Positive understanding of IT service management concepts helps align SAM processes with broader operational workflows.

3. Agile / Scrum delivery experience – Prior experience in Agile teams is beneficial for iterative development, testing, documentation, and production support.

Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role

1 Configure and customize ServiceNow SAM / SAM Pro to support end-to-end software asset lifecycle management and license compliance.

2 Implement and optimize normalization, software models, entitlements, and reconciliation processes to maintain accurate compliance positions.

3 Build and maintain integrations with inventory, discovery, procurement, contract, and CMDB/ITAM systems, including monitoring and error handling.

4 Develop dashboards, compliance reports, and audit evidence packs, and support stakeholders during internal and external audits.

5 Drive automation for reclamation, renewal workflows, and policy-based controls while providing production support, defect fixes, and documentation.
