GitHub Enterprise Server & Cloud Administrator

Position Summary

- 6 years of overall experience and min 3 years of experience administering GitHub Enterprise environments.

The GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) & GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) Administrator is responsible for the administration, security, support, and continuous improvement of the Sonova organization's GitHub platforms. This role ensures the availability, performance, governance, and security of source code management and DevOps collaboration services while supporting development teams across the software development lifecycle.

The administrator works closely with Development, DevOps, Security, Infrastructure, and Identity Management teams to deliver a secure, scalable, and productive GitHub ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration

- Administer GitHub Enterprise Server and GitHub Enterprise Cloud environments.
- Manage users, teams, organizations, repositories, and access permissions.
- Configure and maintain repository governance, branch protections, and organizational policies.
- Plan and perform platform upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor platform health, capacity, and performance.

Security & Compliance

- Administer authentication and identity integrations including SAML SSO, SCIM, LDAP, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Implement and maintain security controls, access management, and audit requirements.
- Support GitHub Advanced Security capabilities, including secret scanning, Dependabot, and code scanning.




- Monitor audit logs and support compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

- Manage GHES replication, backup, recovery, and failover processes.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Validate platform resilience and recovery procedures.

DevOps & Automation

- Automate administrative and operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, and GitHub APIs.
- Support GitHub Actions workflows and self-hosted runner infrastructure.
- Integrate GitHub with enterprise tools and CI/CD platforms.

User Support & Enablement

- Provide technical support for GitHub users and development teams.
- Troubleshoot platform issues and coordinate with GitHub Support when required.
- Develop documentation, operational procedures, and user guidance.
- Support repository onboarding and migration activities.

Reporting & Governance

- Produce platform usage, licensing, and adoption reports.
- Monitor storage utilization and repository growth.

Maintain operational documentation, standards, and governance controls.

Skill Requirements

Experience

- Experience with GitHub Enterprise Server and/or GitHub Enterprise Cloud.




- Experience supporting enterprise-scale source control and DevOps platforms.
- Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience with GitHub Enterprise migrations and modernization projects.
- Experience managing environments with 1,000 users.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and DevSecOps practices.
