Senior SQL Server DBA/Architect with Azure Expertise

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Server DBA/Architect with a deep understanding of database concepts and hands-on expertise in managing Azure SQL Database services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in optimizing database performance and reducing costs through effective utilization of resources. This role involves working with various Azure SQL Database features, understanding transaction units, elastic database transaction units, and evaluating different pricing models for SQL Server licenses.

Responsibilities

Manage and administer Azure SQL Database services

Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and monitoring

Implement and optimize database indexing, query performance, and overall system efficiency

Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues

Demonstrate a strong understanding of Azure SQL Database services

Implement and optimize elastic database transaction units to ensure scalability

Stay updated on the latest Azure technologies and recommend their adoption when required

Collaborate with Azure architects to design and implement effective database solutions

Evaluate and implement strategies to reduce database-related costs





Analyze database usage patterns and recommend adjustments to optimize recourse utilization

Provide insights into cost-effective configurations and make recommendations for cost savings

Understand and manage SQL server licensing, including different licensing models and considerations

Evaluate and implement reserved instances to optimize cost savings

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system admins and azure architects

Document best practices, procedures, and guidelines for database management

Conduct training sessions for team members to enhance their understanding of database-related concepts and technologies

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information technology, or a related field

Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA with a focus on azure SQL Database services

In-depth knowledge of database concepts, transactions, and optimization techniques

Robust understanding of Azure services and architecture

Experience in optimizing and reducing costs in Azure environments

Familiarity with SQL Server licensing models, including vCores and DTUs

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Relevant certifications in Azure and AQL Server are a plus
