Summary of Position

The Sr Software Engineer (CMS Developer) will design, build, and maintain scalable, high-quality content management solutions using Contentful (headless CMS) and Umbraco. This role shapes CMS architecture, integrates content platforms with modern applications, working closely with product owners, UX, and engineering teams.

Summary

Design, develop, and support content management solutions using Contentful and Umbraco, driving CMS architecture decisions across headless, hybrid, and composable approaches. Build and consume APIs to integrate CMS platforms with web, mobile, and downstream systems, and define and implement content models, workflows, and governance aligned to business needs. Ensure solutions are secure, performant, accessible, and scalable, while mentoring developers and collaborating across teams.

Years of experience required: Proven 7+ years experience in a senior or lead developer role, with robust hands-on delivery using Contentful and Umbraco.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain content management solutions using Contentful and Umbraco.
- Lead CMS architecture decisions, including headless, hybrid, and composable approaches.
- Build and consume APIs to integrate CMS platforms with web, mobile, and downstream systems.
- Implement content models, workflows, and governance aligned with business needs.
- Ensure CMS solutions are secure, performant, accessible,



and scalable.
- Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality content experiences.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes for CMS platforms and integrated applications.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers (where applicable) to improve quality and consistency.
- Implement and maintain robust content workflows and governance, ensuring clear roles, approvals, and auditability.
- Implement content models, workflows, and governance aligned with business needs.

Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Contentful, including content modelling, APIs, and webhooks
- Strong hands-on experience with Umbraco (v9+ preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of C# and .NET
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and Git-based version control.
- Experience integrating CMS platforms with front-end frameworks and APIs
- Strong understanding of headless and composable architectures
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and React

Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Azure
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Experience in enterprise-scale or multi-site environments
- Experience in Vue.Js
- Familiarity with Agile delivery models
- Experience migrating content between CMS platforms
- Familiarity with Algolia or similar search integration
