Senior SAP US Payroll Techno-Functional Consultant

Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior SAP US Payroll Techno-Functional Consultant to support our US region and US-based clients. Solid hands-on experience in SAP US Payroll implementations, combined with a solid understanding of US payroll business processes, tax regulations, year-end activities, and payroll technology.

This is a customer-facing techno-business role requiring someone who can effectively bridge the gap between business requirements and SAP Payroll solutions. The consultant will work closely with US clients, understand their payroll requirements, provide functional and technical guidance, and contribute to SAP Payroll RFP/RFI and new business activities.

Key Responsibilities

SAP US Payroll Functional & Techno-Functional

Lead and support SAP US Payroll implementations, enhancements, and client-facing payroll engagements.

Should have successfully participated in 2–3 end-to-end SAP US Payroll implementations.

Understand and analyze US payroll business processes and translate business requirements into appropriate SAP Payroll solutions.

Provide techno-functional expertise across payroll configuration, integration, processing, and support.

Work with business stakeholders to understand payroll requirements, identify gaps, and recommend suitable SAP solutions.

Support payroll troubleshooting, issue analysis, root-cause identification, and resolution.

Work closely with technical teams where development, integrations, interfaces, or system enhancements are required.

US Payroll Process & Compliance





Experience of working with US Payroll processes is mandatory (minimum 5+ years).

Federal and state payroll taxation

Federal/state/local tax processing

Payroll deductions and contributions

401(k) and retirement deductions/contributions

Insurance and benefit-related payroll deductions

Garnishments and other payroll deductions

Payroll processing and reconciliation

Payroll accounting and related processes

US Payroll Year-End activities

W-2 and other year-end payroll activities

Understanding of payroll compliance requirements and their impact on SAP Payroll processes The candidate should be able to explain both how the US payroll process works from a business perspective and how it is supported within SAP.

Client-Facing Responsibilities

Act as a key SAP US Payroll point of contact for US-based clients.

Conduct requirement discussions, workshops, solution discussions, and issue-resolution meetings.

Clearly communicate complex payroll and SAP concepts to business and technical stakeholders.

Manage client expectations and provide timely updates on issues, solutions, and deliverables.

Work effectively with US clients and global delivery teams.

Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently during US business hours.

SAP Payroll RFP / RFI & Business Development Support

Support SAP Payroll RFPs, RFIs, proposals, and new business opportunities.





Understand prospective client requirements and contribute to solutioning.

Prepare functional and techno-functional responses for RFP/RFI requirements.

Provide inputs for solution approaches, implementation methodologies, scope, assumptions, and estimates.

Participate in client presentations, solution discussions, and demonstrations where required.

Identify appropriate SAP Payroll capabilities and processes to address customer requirements.

Collaborate with pre-sales, business, functional, and technical teams to develop comprehensive proposals.

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory

Strong experience in SAP US Payroll.

Experience with 2–3 SAP US Payroll implementation Projects .

Strong understanding of US Payroll business processes.

Good knowledge of US federal and state taxes and payroll-related deductions.

Strong understanding of US Payroll Year-End activities.

Knowledge of 401(k), insurance, benefits, deductions, and related payroll processes.

Strong techno-functional understanding of SAP Payroll.

Ability to connect business payroll requirements with SAP technology/solutions.

Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Experience working directly with US clients/stakeholders.

Ability to contribute to SAP Payroll RFP/RFI and pre-sales activities.

Preferred Skills

Experience with SAP Payroll integrations and interfaces.

Exposure to payroll-related third-party systems and integrations.

Experience in payroll transformation, enhancements, or support engagements.

Exposure to SAP HCM / SuccessFactors integrations.

Experience in solution design and estimation.

Prior experience in SAP Payroll pre-sales or consulting engagements.
