Senior Quality Engineer -QMS (Sheet Metal Stamping)

Role Summary The Senior Quality Engineer (QMS) will spearhead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) across manufacturing lines. The candidate will ensure that pressed, fabricated, and welded sheet metal components consistently meet stringent internal and customer-specific quality specifications (CSR).

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Management System (QMS) & Audits

- Develop, implement, and update QMS documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and process work instructions.
- Conduct routine internal quality audits and coordinate external ISO/IATF certification and surveillance audits.
- Monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs) including First Pass Yield (FPY), internal rejection rates, rework costs, and customer PPM.

2. Process & Shop Floor Quality Control

- Oversee incoming raw material (CR/HR sheets, coils), in-process pressing/bending operations, and final pre-dispatch inspections.
- Validate critical sheet metal parameters such as dimensional accuracy, weld integrity, burr control, and bending angles using precision measuring instruments (Vernier calipers, height gauges, micrometers).




- Ensure proper calibration schedules and maintenance records for all shop-floor measuring equipment.

3. Problem Solving & Corrective Actions

- Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for internal rejections and customer complaints using quality tools like 5-Why Analysis, Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams, and Pareto Charts.
- Drive Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans and prepare 8D reports for customer quality issues.
- Prepare and manage Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and Control Plans for current product developments.

4. Cross-Functional Training & Coordination

- Train shop-floor operators and supervisors on quality standards, blueprint reading, and defect prevention.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Tool Room, Maintenance, and Dispatch teams to isolate quality bottlenecks and execute inline improvements.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of sheet metal forming, laser cutting, stamping, welding, and surface treatment quality norms.
- Core Quality Tools: Proficiency in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and the 7 QC Tools.
- Standards: Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 audit protocols.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, team leadership, and effective customer-handling capabilities.
