Role Description The Senior Project Officer – Enterprise and Market Development is a full-time, on-site role based in Odisha, India. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring enterprise and market development interventions for smallholder farmers and producer organizations.

The role includes facilitating value chain analysis, supporting business planning, and strengthening producer collectives, cooperatives, and agribusiness enterprises to enhance market access and income.

The Senior Project

Officer will coordinate with community groups, local partners, private sector stakeholders,



and government agencies to build inclusive market linkages and promote sustainable enterprise models. Daily activities include field visits, data collection, capacity-building sessions, reporting on project progress, and providing technical guidance to ensure alignment with Heifer’s program strategies and objectives.

Qualifications

- Strong experience in enterprise development, agribusiness, or rural livelihoods, including value chain development and market linkage for farmer organizations.
- Proven ability in project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
- Competence in data collection, analysis, and use of monitoring and evaluation tools to inform program decisions and improve market interventions.
- Demonstrated skills in training, facilitation, and capacity-building for producer groups, cooperatives, and community-based organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, business plans, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Knowledge of rural development, inclusive markets, gender-responsive programming, and sustainable agriculture in the Indian context, preferably in Odisha.
- Ability to work in office in field settings, travel within the project area, and collaborate effectively with diverse communities and partners.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agribusiness, Rural Management, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field; prior experience with INGOs or development projects is an advantage
