About the Role

Plus UAE Group is looking for a hands-on Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to build, manage, secure, and continuously improve our cloud infrastructure and deployment platform.

This is not a monitoring-only or ticket-based DevOps role.

You will take ownership of the infrastructure that supports our applications, from cloud resources and containerization to CI/CD, Kubernetes, observability, security, backups, troubleshooting, and production reliability.

We are looking for someone who understands why the infrastructure is designed a certain way, can make sound technical decisions independently, and can build reliable systems rather than simply follow existing documentation.

What You Will Own

AWS Infrastructure

Design, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS infrastructure including:

- EC2
- EBS
- S3
- ECR
- CodeArtifact
- IPv4 and networking
- Data transfer
- CloudWatch
- IAM and access control
- Security groups and infrastructure security
- Backup and recovery

You will be responsible for understanding infrastructure dependencies, performance, availability, security, and cost. Kubernetes & Containers

- Build and maintain containerized application environments.
- Work extensively with Docker.
- Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes.
- Configure deployments, services, ingress, secrets, configuration, storage, and resource limits.
- Troubleshoot application and cluster-level issues.
- Manage container images through Amazon ECR.
- Establish reliable deployment and rollback procedures.

CI/CD Design and maintain automated deployment pipelines using:

- Bitbucket Repositories
- Bitbucket Pipelines
- Docker
- ECR
- Kubernetes

The objective is to create a dependable path from: Code → Build → Test → Image → Registry → Deployment → Verification

You will continuously improve the speed, reliability, and safety of this process.

Infrastructure as Code

We expect infrastructure to be reproducible rather than manually configured wherever practical.

Experience with Terraform or an equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code approach is strongly preferred.

You should be comfortable creating and maintaining infrastructure configurations that can be version-controlled, reviewed, reproduced, and recovered.

Monitoring & Observability

Build and maintain a practical observability system using:

- Prometheus
- Grafana
- Loki
- CloudWatch

You will establish meaningful monitoring for:
- Infrastructure
- Containers
- Kubernetes
- Applications
- CPU, memory, and storage
- Network behaviour
- Application errors
- Logs
- Service availability

The goal is not simply to collect metrics. The goal is to make problems visible and diagnosable.

Security

Take responsibility for infrastructure-level security,



including:

- AWS IAM
- Least-privilege access
- SSH and access management
- Network security
- Secrets management
- Container security
- Kubernetes security
- Secure CI/CD pipelines
- Dependency and package security
- Secure production configuration

You should be able to identify infrastructure security risks and implement practical controls. Reliability & Troubleshooting

When something breaks, you are expected to investigate the actual root cause.

You will troubleshoot issues involving:

- AWS infrastructure
- Linux
- Networking
- DNS
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- CI/CD
- Application deployment
- Database connectivity
- Storage
- Logs
- Performance
- Resource utilization

You should be comfortable working from: Symptoms → Evidence → Root Cause → Corrective Action

AI / Document Processing Infrastructure

Our technology environment also includes OCR and Claude CLI-based AI workflows.

You will support the infrastructure required to run these workloads reliably and integrate them into the broader application and deployment environment.

You do not need to be an AI researcher. You should understand how AI and document-processing workloads are deployed, monitored, secured, and integrated into production systems.

What We Don't Want This role is not for someone whose experience is primarily:

- Running preconfigured deployment scripts.
- Watching dashboards and escalating alerts.
- Creating EC2 instances from instructions.
- Following Kubernetes tutorials without production experience.
- Listing AWS/Kubernetes certifications without hands-on capability.
- Managing infrastructure only through a GUI without understanding the underlying systems.
- Calling themselves DevOps because they have used Docker or Git.

We value demonstrated capability over certifications and job titles.

Experience

4–8 years of relevant experience is preferred.

However, experience will not be evaluated by years alone.

A candidate with fewer years but strong hands-on production experience may be considered, while a candidate with many years of experience but limited ownership may not be suitable.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

How We Evaluate Candidates The selection process will focus heavily on practical capability.

Candidates may be asked to explain or demonstrate scenarios such as:

- Designing an AWS environment for a frontend, backend, and database.
- Building a Docker-based deployment workflow.
- Designing a Kubernetes deployment.
- Creating a Bitbucket CI/CD pipeline.
- Handling a failed production deployment.
- Diagnosing a Kubernetes pod that repeatedly crashes.
- Investigating high CPU or memory usage.
- Designing monitoring and alerting.
- Recovering a failed server or service.
- Securing AWS and Kubernetes access.
- Reducing unnecessary infrastructure cost.
- Explaining how they would structure Infrastructure as Code.
