Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP/Laravel Developer to design, build, and maintain robust, scalable web applications. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on expertise in the Laravel framework, a robust grasp of backend architecture, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end development of web applications using PHP and the Laravel framework, from architecture design through deployment and maintenance.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices, ensuring scalability, security, and adherence to best practices.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following SOLID principles, design patterns, and Laravel conventions (Eloquent ORM, Blade, Artisan, etc.).
- Optimize application performance through query optimization, caching strategies (Redis/Memcached), and efficient database schema design (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
- Mentor and guide junior/mid-level developers, conduct code reviews, and enforce coding standards across the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, UI/UX designers, QA, DevOps) to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure application security by implementing best practices around authentication, authorization, data validation, and protection against common vulnerabilities (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF).
- Integrate third-party services and APIs (payment gateways, SMS/email services, cloud storage, etc.) as required by business needs.
- Work with modern DevOps practices CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), containerization (Docker), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in a timely manner,



ensuring high system availability and reliability.
- Contribute to technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, API documentation, and deployment guides.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and the Laravel ecosystem, recommending improvements to existing systems and processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 68 years of professional PHP development experience, including 4+ years working with Laravel (v8 and above preferred).
- Strong command of Object-Oriented PHP, MVC architecture, and Laravel's ecosystem (Eloquent, Artisan, Queues, Events, Middleware).
- Solid experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with RESTful API design and integration; familiarity with API authentication (OAuth2, JWT, Sanctum/Passport).
- Proficiency with front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) and familiarity with a modern framework such as Vue.js or React.
- Experience with caching and queueing systems (Redis, Memcached, RabbitMQ/SQS).
- Strong understanding of unit and feature testing using PHPUnit or Pest.
- Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
- Working knowledge of Docker and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello.

Good to Have

- Experience with microservices architecture and message-driven systems.
- Exposure to other PHP frameworks (Symfony, CodeIgniter) or CMS platforms (WordPress, Magento).
- Prior experience in a fintech, e-commerce, or SaaS product workplace.
- Contributions to open-source Laravel packages or a public GitHub portfolio.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Laravel certification, AWS Certified Developer) are a plus.
