Oracle Exadata Performance Tuning DBA – Customer Success Services The Customer Success Services (CSS) team helps Oracle customers manage, maintain, and optimize business-critical database systems. This role focuses on Oracle Exadata administration and database performance tuning, working directly with customers to resolve complex production issues, improve reliability, and maintain high availability.

Mandatory Skills

- 6–15 years of Oracle DBA or Database Engineering experience supporting production environments

- Strong hands-on expertise in Oracle Database administration, troubleshooting, and operational support

- Extensive experience with Oracle Exadata architecture, administration, monitoring, and issue resolution

- Strong Oracle database performance tuning expertise, including SQL tuning, AWR/ASH analysis, wait events, execution plans, resource management, and capacity optimization

- Experience resolving Exadata-specific performance issues involving Smart Scan, storage servers, I/O, flash cache, and cell-level metrics

- Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC and ASM

- Hands-on Data Guard experience, including Physical Standby, Active Data Guard, and Data Guard Broker

- Solid RMAN backup, restore, and recovery experience, including critical recovery scenarios

- Experience with database installation, upgrades, migration, patching, and lifecycle management

- Ability to troubleshoot complex performance, availability, RAC/ASM, backup/recovery, and patching issues

- Ability to manage critical production incidents under pressure and provide timely stakeholder updates

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused support mindset

- Willingness to work shifts,



weekends, and on-call rotations as required

Good-to-Have Skills

- Oracle GoldenGate replication and troubleshooting

- ZDLRA administration or support

- Logical Data Guard experience

- Experience supporting large-scale, highly available Exadata environments

- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager, performance monitoring, and capacity planning

- Oracle Database, Exadata, RAC, or related technical certifications

Roles and Responsibilities

- Manage, monitor, and maintain Oracle databases hosted on Exadata and other high-availability platforms.

- Serve as a subject-matter expert for Exadata administration, health monitoring, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.

- Analyze database and Exadata performance using AWR, ASH, SQL execution plans, wait-event analysis, and Exadata cell metrics; recommend and implement improvements.

- Investigate and resolve critical production issues affecting database performance, availability, backup and recovery, RAC/ASM, Data Guard, and patching.

- Support and maintain Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, and Exadata environments.

- Perform database installations, upgrades, migrations, patching, backup validation, restore, and complex recovery activities.

- Collaborate directly with customers, Oracle support teams, and engineering teams to diagnose issues and drive them through resolution.

- Proactively identify risks and recommend improvements to database performance, availability, scalability, and reliability.

- Maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, root-cause analyses, and incident reports.

- Participate in shift, weekend, and on-call support as required.
