Senior Mechanical Engineer; Robotics Design and Product Engineering

Role:

Own the mechanical architecture and product release for Integra’s industrial arms with 3 to 20 kg payloads, underwater manipulators, mobile platforms and intervention robots.

Previous experience:

3+ years in precision mechatronic product development, including 2+ years on robotic mechanisms and ownership of at least two designs taken through build and validation.

Qualification:

B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.

Work arrangement:

Full time, work from the office; production and client site support with travel as required.

Scope of responsibilities:

- Develop modular joints, links, end effectors and chassis with common interfaces, service access and protected cable routing.
- Calculate payload, reach and dynamic loads; size actuators, gearboxes, bearings and brakes for stiffness, backlash, duty and service life.
- Validate stress, deflection, fatigue and modal response using FEA, hand calculations and physical tests under worst-case loads.
- Release GD&T; drawings, fits, tolerance stacks, BOMs and controlled revisions; apply DFM/DFA for machining, fabrication and repeat assembly.
- Define tests for payload, repeatability, stiffness,



backlash and endurance; investigate bench and field failures and verify corrective actions.
- Own supplier technical reviews and production transfer; improve assembly yield, cost, lead time and interchangeability across variants.

Software and technical experience

Required proficiency:

Fusion 360 for parametric modelling, component assemblies, joints, production drawings, simulation and design revision management.

Must have qualifications:

- Proven ownership of robotic joints, manipulators or precision mechanisms from load calculations through tested hardware.
- Ability to substantiate torque, stiffness, backlash and fatigue decisions with calculations and measured results.
- Released manufacturing drawings and tolerance stacks, with practical resolution of machining, assembly or field failures.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience designing underwater housings, rotary seals and corrosion protection, supported by pressure and leak testing.
- Experience with tracked platforms, traction, centre of gravity and stability under manipulator loads.
- Experience with lightweight composite structures, strain wave or cycloidal drives, and CAD to URDF mass and inertia transfer.

Required evidence of experience: Share two non-confidential project examples with your role, design calculations, drawings and measured test results.
