Role & responsibilities

A. Crane Operations

- Plan, supervise and control day-to-day operations of HMC/Liebherr cranes.
- Ensure cranes are available for vessel loading/unloading and bulk cargo handling operations.
- Monitor crane productivity, utilization, cycle time and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with Operations, Marine, Logistics and Maintenance teams for uninterrupted cargo handling.
- Ensure proper deployment of crane operators and shift manpower.
- Monitor crane performance against agreed operational targets.

B. Maintenance & Reliability
- Overall responsibility for preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of HMC/Liebherr cranes.
- Ensure timely inspection, servicing and overhauling of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electronic systems.
- Analyze recurring breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Monitor MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability and breakdown trends.
- Ensure critical spare parts, consumables and tools are available.
- Coordinate with OEM/Liebherr service engineers for technical support and major repairs.
- Ensure all repairs and modifications are carried out as per OEM recommendations and approved procedures. Liebherr's service activities specifically cover diagnosis, repair and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic crane systems.

C. Equipment Availability & Performance
- Maintain maximum possible crane availability for terminal operations.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly crane performance reports.
- Monitor equipment downtime and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop reliability improvement plans for critical equipment.




- Review crane operating parameters and identify abnormal performance.
- Ensure cranes remain operationally fit before deployment for bulk cargo handling.

D. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe operation and maintenance of all HMC/Liebherr cranes.
- Implement strict compliance with HSE, statutory, port and company safety requirements.
- Conduct regular crane safety inspections and audits.
- Investigate crane-related incidents, breakdowns and near misses and implement corrective actions.

E. Team Management
- Lead and manage Crane Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Allocate manpower and responsibilities across shifts.
- Guide Crane Engineers, Supervisors, Operators and Technicians..

F. OEM & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with Liebherr/OEM representatives for technical support, inspections, troubleshooting and major maintenance.
- Manage AMC/OEM service activities and ensure service schedules are followed.
- Review vendor performance and service quality.
- Coordinate procurement of critical crane spares and technical materials.
- Maintain proper documentation of OEM recommendations and service history.

G. Cost & Budget Management
- Prepare and control annual crane maintenance budgets.
- Monitor maintenance expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Control spare parts, consumables and repair costs.
- Evaluate repair-versus-replacement requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of maintenance resources
