Role Overview The Senior Manager – Engineering will lead high-impact engineering delivery for global industrial product businesses, managing multidisciplinary India engineering teams across mechanical, electronics. The role is accountable for technical execution, program delivery, stakeholder partnership, talent development, operating discipline and continuous improvement. The incumbent will serve as a trusted engineering leader for global operating company, partnering closely with engineering, product management, R&D;, operations and business stakeholders to deliver new product development, sustaining engineering, VAVE and manufacturing support priorities.

Reporting To: Engineering Leader, Team Size: 20-30 engineers

Location: Bangalore – Onsite presence is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Engineering Leadership

- Define and execute India engineering goals aligned with global operating company priorities, product roadmaps and business objectives.
- Own operating cadence, resource planning, delivery commitments, annual budget inputs, forecasting, engineering metrics and governance for assigned teams and programs.
- Build strong stakeholder confidence by demonstrating technical depth, execution discipline, ownership mindset and transparent communication across global engineering interfaces.

Product Development,



Sustaining Engineering and VAVE

- Lead engineering execution across new product development, sustaining engineering, product improvement, cost reduction and manufacturing support for industrial products.
- Drive design reviews, technical risk management, engineering rigor, quality of deliverables and compliance with applicable product development and engineering standards.
- Champion VAVE, design optimization, Lean engineering and process improvement initiatives to improve product value, manufacturability, cost, quality and lifecycle performance.
- Collaborate with global engineering, operations, product management, quality and supply chain teams to move products and engineering solutions from concept through delivery.

Program Management and Global/Local Stakeholder engagement

- Ensure engineering programs are delivered on time, within agreed scope and budget, with clear ownership of milestones, risks, dependencies and stakeholder communication.
- Translate moderately abstract business and technical requirements into executable plans, aligning distributed teams across India, and other parts of the world.
- Establish robust program governance, project reviews, resource allocation discipline, escalation mechanisms and decision-making forums.
- Partner effectively with operating company stakeholders across engineering, R&D;, product management, technical sales, marketing, operations and manufacturing functions.

People Leadership and Capability Building

Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary engineering organization, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

coach and grow engineering talent to support near-term delivery needs and long-term capability development for global operating companies.
- Drive performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, competency development and career growth across assigned teams.

Required Experience & Leadership Capabilities

- 18+ years of engineering experience, primarily in mechanical engineering or industrial product development, with 5+ years in people leadership and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical teams and leadership interface with electronics and firmware delivery teams.
- Proven track record of managing complex engineering programs from concept to delivery, including NPD, sustaining engineering, VAVE, product improvement and manufacturing support.
- Strong ability to partner with global stakeholders, senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing engineering budgets, forecasts, metrics, capacity plans, program governance and delivery performance.
- Strong knowledge of product development processes, manufacturing methods, design quality, engineering documentation, validation practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Working knowledge of engineering design tools, project management practices and Lean/Six Sigma principles; ability to apply them pragmatically to improve delivery outcomes.
- Excellent communication, influencing and executive presence, with the ability to simplify complex technical topics and drive alignment among diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset with strong execution discipline; able to operate in ambiguity, make sound decisions, solve problems methodically and deliver measurable business impact.
