Sri Vishnu Educational Society is a leading educational group managing multiple institutions across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Society operates engineering, pharmacy, dental, polytechnic, degree and postgraduate colleges, schools and a Womens University, serving more than 25,000 students with over 3,000 faculty and staff members.
The Societys Head Office in Hyderabad oversees the finance and accounts, procurement, administration, central placements and other shared functions of its institutions.
Position Overview
Sri Vishnu Educational Society is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Senior Manager Accounts & Finance to manage and strengthen the accounting and financial operations of the Society and its institutions.
The selected candidate will oversee accounting, budgeting, taxation, statutory compliance, audits, financial reporting and internal controls across multiple institutions. The role requires strong experience in managing the accounts of educational institutions and professionally managed corporate organisations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Management
- Supervise the day-to-day accounting operations of the Head Office and educational institutions.
- Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of books of accounts, ledgers, journals and supporting records.
- Review bank, vendor, student-fee, payroll and inter-unit reconciliations.
- Monitor receivables, payables, cash flows, advances and institutional fund positions.
- Consolidate accounts and financial information received from different institutions and units.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual closing of accounts.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards.Budgeting and MIS
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets for the Society and its institutions.
- Monitor actual income and expenditure against approved budgets.
- Analyse variances and recommend corrective measures.
- Prepare periodic financial MIS reports, dashboards and presentations for senior management.
- Provide institution-wise analysis of revenue, expenses, cash flows and financial performance.
- Support management in financial planning and decision-making.Educational Institution Accounting
- Oversee student-fee accounting, scholarships, fee reimbursements, concessions and refunds.
- Monitor grants, research funds, endowments and restricted funds, wherever applicable.
- Ensure appropriate accounting for hostels, transport, examinations, laboratories and other institutional activities.
- Coordinate with Principals,
Registrars, administrative officers and institutional accounts teams.
- Standardise accounting practices and reporting formats across all institutions.Taxation and Statutory Compliance
- Manage direct and indirect taxation matters applicable to the Society and its institutions.
- Ensure timely computation, deduction, deposit and filing of TDS and other applicable taxes.
- Oversee GST compliance wherever applicable, including returns, reconciliations and documentation.
- Coordinate income-tax assessments, notices, exemptions and related compliance matters.
- Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, professional tax and other statutory financial obligations in coordination with HR.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their financial and compliance implications.Audit and Internal Controls
- Coordinate statutory, internal, tax and other audits.
- Provide schedules, records, explanations and supporting documents to auditors.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop and strengthen internal financial controls, approval processes and documentation standards.
- Conduct periodic reviews of institutional accounts and compliance.
- Identify financial and operational risks and recommend preventive controls.Treasury and Banking
- Monitor cash flows and ensure the availability of funds for institutional operations.
- Manage banking relationships, account administration and authorised transactions.
- Review fund transfers, payments and banking reconciliations.
- Assist management in planning investments and the utilisation of surplus funds in accordance with applicable regulations and Society policies.
- Monitor loans, deposits, bank guarantees and other financial instruments, wherever applicable.Procurement, Assets and Payroll Coordination
- Review vendor payments and ensure compliance with approved procurement procedures.
- Monitor advances to employees, vendors and institutions and ensure their timely settlement.
- Oversee accounting and verification of fixed assets, depreciation and asset registers.
- Coordinate with HR and payroll teams to ensure accurate salary and employee-benefit accounting.
- Support physical verification of assets, inventory and financial records.Team Leadership
- Lead, guide and develop accounts teams at the Head Office and institutions.
- Establish standard operating procedures for accounting, reporting and compliance.
- Allocate responsibilities and review the performance of accounts personnel.
- Promote accuracy, accountability, confidentiality and timely reporting within the finance function.
- Facilitate training on accounting software, taxation and compliance requirements.
Qualification and Experience
- Chartered Accountant, Cost and Management Accountant, MBA in Finance, M.Com. or equivalent postgraduate qualification in accounting or finance.
- Approximately 15 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial management.
- Significant experience in managing the accounts of educational institutions is essential.
- Exposure to corporate accounting practices and multi-location organisations is highly desirable.
- Experience in taxation, statutory compliance, audit coordination, budgeting and financial reporting is required.
- Prior experience leading accounts teams and coordinating with senior management, auditors, bankers and government authorities will be preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls.
- Practical understanding of taxation, TDS, GST and statutory compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Tally, ERP systems or other financial-management platforms.
- Ability to prepare and analyse budgets, cash-flow statements and management reports.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent documentation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality and skilled judgement.
- Ability to manage multiple institutions, priorities and reporting deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to institutions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana when required.
Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a mature finance professional with strong hands-on experience in educational institution accounting and exposure to corporate financial practices. The candidate should be capable of leading a multi-location accounts function, improving systems and controls, ensuring statutory compliance and providing reliable financial information to the Society's senior management.
