JOB SUMMARY
UK Textiles is looking for an experienced Fabric Store In-charge to take complete responsibility for its fabric godown.
The person must control all greige and finished fabric received, stored, issued, returned and balanced. Every fabric roll must be properly counted, weighed, identified and recorded.
The candidate must have good knowledge of knitted fabrics, fabric rolls, colour and dye-lot segregation, stock records and fabric issues to cutting.
The main objective is to ensure that no fabric is lost, mixed, issued without approval or left unaccounted for.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FABRIC RECEIPT AND INWARD
- Receive greige and finished fabric from knitting, dyeing and processing units Check the delivery challan, style, colour, lot, number of rolls and quantity Physically count every fabric roll at the time of receipt Check and record roll-wise weight or metres as applicable Report any shortage, excess, damaged packing or incorrect fabric immediately Prepare fabric inward records and GRN without delay Enter all receipts correctly in FiberPro ERP and the fabric-stock register Obtain proper acknowledgement for every fabric receipt and return Do not accept unidentified or undocumented fabric
FABRIC IDENTIFICATION AND STORAGE
- Give every fabric roll a proper identification label Store fabric style-wise, order-wise, colour-wise and dye-lot-wise Maintain clear roll numbers and lot traceability Keep greige, processed, approved, rejected and hold fabric separately Keep certified and sustainable fabric properly identified and segregated Prevent mixing between colours, dye lots, compositions, buyers and styles Ensure that fabric is stored safely and protected from dirt, moisture and damage Maintain a clean and properly organised fabric godown Make sure every roll can be physically located without delay
FABRIC INSPECTION AND APPROVAL STATUS
- Send received fabric for inspection and quality approval Maintain clear identification for fabric under inspection, approved, rejected or on hold Ensure rejected or hold fabric is not issued to cutting Coordinate with the Fabric, Quality and Merchandising teams for approval status Maintain roll-wise inspection and approval records Ensure only approved fabric is available for cutting issue Escalate any fabric lying without inspection or approval
FABRIC ISSUE TO CUTTING
- Issue fabric only against an authorised cutting requisition Check the style, colour, dye lot, roll number and required quantity before issue Ensure shade and dye-lot segregation is followed while issuing fabric Obtain cutting acknowledgement for every fabric issue Record all fabric issues in ERP and physical records on the same day Do not allow fabric to move without a challan, requisition or authorised entry Maintain clear records of fabric issued to each cutting unit or contractor Coordinate with PPC and Cutting regarding the required issue date Report shortages before the cutting plan is affected
FABRIC RETURNS AND BALANCE CONTROL
- Receive and record unused fabric returned from cutting Check returned rolls, remnants and end bits physically Re-identify and store all usable balance fabric correctly Maintain style-wise records of received, issued, returned, rejected and available quantities Reconcile fabric against the order quantity and cutting quantity Investigate any difference between book stock and physical stock Report excess consumption, missing rolls and unexplained fabric shortages Maintain separate records for remnants, damaged fabric, rejected fabric and dead stock Arrange disposal only after written management approval
OUTSIDE PROCESS AND JOB-WORK MOVEMENT
- Prepare delivery challans for fabric sent to dyeing, compacting, washing, printing or other outside units Record the roll count, weight, style, colour, lot and vendor details Obtain vendor acknowledgement for every outward movement Track pending fabric lying at each outside processing unit Check the quantity returned against the quantity sent Report process loss, shortage or damaged fabric immediately Ensure no fabric remains with a vendor without visibility or follow-up
STOCK VERIFICATION AND REPORTING
- Conduct daily checks of important and high-value fabric Conduct regular cycle counts and monthly physical stock verification Match physical stock with FiberPro ERP and fabric registers Correct entries only after proper checking and authorisation Submit daily fabric inward, outward and balance reports Submit a daily report of fabric pending inspection or approval Submit a weekly report of fabric lying with outside vendors Report slow-moving, excess, rejected and old fabric Immediately report any stock mismatch or unauthorised movement
TEAM CONTROL
- Manage fabric-store assistants, helpers and loaders Allocate clear responsibilities for inward, outward, storage and record keeping Ensure helpers do not move any roll without instructions Train the team on roll identification, lot control and documentation Maintain discipline, cleanliness and safety inside the fabric godown Ensure proper handover between shifts and employees
COORDINATION The Fabric Store In-charge will coordinate closely with:
- Fabric and Knitting teams Dyeing and Processing teams Quality department Merchandising department PPC and Production Cutting department Purchase department Accounts and ERP teams External job-work and processing units
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 7–10 years of fabric-store experience in the garment or textile industry Minimum 3 years as a Fabric Store In-charge, Fabric Godown In-charge or similar position Knitwear garment-export experience is compulsory Good knowledge of knitted fabrics and fabric-roll handling Knowledge of GSM, width, composition, shade, dye lot and roll identification Experience handling both greige and finished fabric Experience with fabric inward, outward, GRN,
challans and cutting issues Knowledge of roll-wise stock and physical fabric verification Ability to reconcile fabric receipts, issues, returns and balances Experience using garment ERP software and Excel FiberPro ERP experience will be an advantage Ability to manage helpers and fabric-store employees Strong counting, documentation and follow-up skills Good spoken Tamil and basic working English Must be willing to work full-time from the Tiruppur factory
REPORTING The Fabric Store In-charge will report to the Fabric Head/Factory Operations Head and will coordinate with the Quality, PPC, Cutting and ERP teams. The position is separate from the Accessories Store and Purchase department.

COMPENSATION Salary is negotiable and will be based on experience, fabric knowledge, current compensation and previous responsibilities.
