About the Role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps/Cloud Ops Engineer responsible for designing and leading infrastructure automation, monitoring, and reliability initiatives. This role acts as a mentor to junior DevOps/SRE engineers and drives operational excellence across the team.

What You'll Do

- Leads development and maintenance of infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, and manages multi-account AWS environments

- Collaborates with security teams to refine infrastructure security practices (IAM, secrets management, network segmentation), fostering a security-first mindset across engineering.

- Designs, optimizes, and consolidates CI/CD pipelines across multiple platforms (GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Terraform Cloud), driving toward a unified pipeline strategy and managing migrations with minimal disruption.

- Manages and improves the observability stack (New Relic APM, logging platforms) to ensure system reliability, rapid root cause analysis, and performance optimization.

- Routinely reviews AWS Trusted Advisor and security advisories,



identifies required upgrades, and plans remediation with minimal service disruption.

- Troubleshoots complex infrastructure issues spanning networking, container orchestration (ECS/Fargate), database connectivity, and cross-service communication.

- Performs thorough root cause analysis for incidents, documents findings, and implements solutions that prevent recurrence.

- Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation and operational runbooks — ensuring any team member can execute critical procedures independently.

- Assesses risk of infrastructure changes, enforces change management standards, and ensures rollback plans exist before applying changes to production.

- Contributes to Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning, including backup strategies and RTO/RPO target definitions.

- Manages and prioritizes infrastructure work across the team, balancing operational tasks with project delivery.

- Mentors junior DevOps/SRE engineers through pair work, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions — teaching structured problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

- Partners with development, QA, and product teams to translate application requirements into scalable, secure infrastructure.

- Communicates infrastructure strategies, risks, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Evaluates incoming infrastructure requests critically — understanding the business requirement, proposing alternatives when better solutions exist, and documenting reasoning before implementation.

- Manages a multi-account AWS organization, including cross-account networking,



access patterns, and cost allocation.

- Identifies and implements cost optimization opportunities — right-sizing resources, eliminating waste, and producing regular cost reporting for leadership.

- Continuously improves DevOps workflows — identifying toil, automating repetitive tasks, and introducing better tooling where justified.

- Defines and enforces change management processes — branching strategies, peer review standards, deployment gates, and post-change verification.

- Explores and adopts AI-assisted tooling (AI coding assistants, automated analysis, runbook generation) to improve team productivity and evaluates emerging AI operations tools.

- Responds to incident calls and drives resolution collaboratively with the team.

What You'll Bring

- Bachelor's degree 5 yrs; or Master's 3 yrs; or 8 yrs equivalent experience

- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), CI/CD tools, container orchestration (Kubernetes), Terraform, and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)

- Knowledge of Linux, scripting, and network fundamentals

- Proven ability to lead infrastructure automation and reliability initiatives

- Strong mentoring and coaching skills with junior engineers

- Adaptability, attention to detail, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, problem solving/analytical mindset

- Preferred: Experience with clinical software systems. Familiarity with advanced observability and security tools.
