Role & responsibilities

1. Mechanical Design & Engineering

- Develop complete mechanical designs and detailed drawings using SolidWorks and other

engineering tools, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations and design validation for critical components such as

shafts, spindles, clamping systems, and structural members.
- Design high-force machine elements including clamping systems, spindles, handling systems, and

structural assemblies.
- Select and validate standard mechanical components (LM rails, ball screws, motors, gearboxes,

couplings, bearings) based on application and performance requirements.
- Conduct or support FEA/structural simulations to analyse stress, deflection, and vibration

behaviour. 2. Engineering Documentation & Compliance

- Prepare detailed part drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and material specifications for project

execution.
- Ensure strict adherence to customer technical specifications during design and manufacturing

stages. 3. Manufacturing & Project Coordination

- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams with a strong understanding of processes,

workflow, assembly practices, cycle time, and quality expectations.
- Take ownership of assigned projects, driving design activities and supporting cross-functional

teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. : Senior Design Engineer 4. Installation & Technical Support

- Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, installation, commissioning, and

troubleshooting as required. 5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

- Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, process improvement, and

enhanced machine performance. 6.



Team Development & Leadership Support

- Support and mentor junior engineers in coordination with the Design Engineering Manager

Competencies and Skills:

1. Experience in mechanical design of heavy / high-force equipment or machine-tooltype

machinery.
1. Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, drawings); working knowledge of

AutoCAD 2D.
1. Basic knowledge of hydraulics, including circuit understanding and component / pump

selection (preferred).
1. Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and learning-oriented mindset.
2. Positive written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently on assigned

tasks and collaborate with teams.
1. Ability to work independently on assigned systems or sub-systems, while collaborating

effectively with cross-functional teams.
1. Experience in machine tool / SPM design is mandatory, including design of automated

systems, assemblies, and production machinery.
1. Strong knowledge of mechanical component selection, including LM guideways, ball

screws, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and drive systems.
1. Proficiency in performing complex mechanical design calculations, including shaft design,

lead screw sizing, bending stress, torque transmission, and basic vibration considerations.
1. Hands-on experience in structural analysis and validation, using tools such as ANSYS,

HyperMesh, or SolidWorks Simulation to ensure design strength, stiffness, and reliability
