What You’ll Be Doing (position summary):

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions using cloud technologies. This role leverages expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Power BI to build and optimize data pipelines and analytics solutions. The incumbent works with large data sets using Python, PySpark, and SAS, and applies sound data modeling principles to support effective data management and reporting.

The role also ensures the quality and reliability of data products through unit testing and supports the implementation of data mesh architecture within the cloud environment.

How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities):

Data Engineering and Solution Delivery:

- Develop, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks to support business analytics and reporting needs.
- Design and optimize scalable solutions for processing large data sets using Python, PySpark, and SAS to improve performance and reliability.
- Integrate data from diverse sources and apply effective data modeling techniques to support scalable, consistent, and trusted data solutions.
- Apply cloud infrastructure, lakehouse, medallion architecture, and data mesh principles to design resilient and scalable data products.

Reporting, Analytics, and Data Quality:

- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to deliver actionable insights to business stakeholders.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency through validation, testing, and monitoring practices.
- Create and execute comprehensive unit test cases to ensure the reliability and accuracy of data products and solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data issues to support ongoing data operations and reporting continuity.

Collaboration and Operational Effectiveness:

- Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and IT teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable cloud data solutions.
- Work closely with cloud infrastructure and architecture teams to ensure alignment with organizational standards and technical best practices.
- Partner with external vendors as required for tool integration, platform support, and issue resolution.
- Recommend improvements to data engineering processes, standards, and workflows to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Risk, Governance, and Best Practices:

- Ensure adherence to best practices in cloud data engineering, security, and platform governance.
- Support the implementation of governed data solutions aligned with enterprise standards for privacy, compliance, and responsible data use.
- Contribute to the development of secure, maintainable, and production-ready cloud data assets.
- Maintain awareness of evolving tools, standards, and practices relevant to cloud data engineering and analytics delivery.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

- This job collaborates closely with business analysts, data scientists, and IT teams to gather requirements, define solution needs, and deliver data products that support analytics and reporting objectives.




- This job works with cloud infrastructure and architecture teams to ensure data solutions align with enterprise cloud standards, security requirements, and architectural principles.
- This job interacts with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and provide actionable insights through dashboards and data products.
- This job partners with external vendors, where required, for tool integration, technical support, and platform-related issue resolution.

Experience: 7+ years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Must Have Skills:

- 7+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and Unity Catalog/Unity.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Data Stack and cloud-based data engineering solutions.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and data mesh architecture.
- Experience in data modeling and integration of diverse data sources.
- Ability to create and execute unit test cases for data solutions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Technical Knowledge-Azure Data Stack,Azure,Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks,Unity Catalog,Power BI,Medallion Architecture,Data Mesh,Lakehouse Architecture,Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS),Data Lake technologies.

Good to Have:

- Proficiency in handling large data sets using Python, PySpark, and SAS.
- Experience with big data platforms and cloud infrastructure.
