We are seeking a senior Databricks architect/engineer who can design, build, and govern a modern enterprise data platform on Databricks. The ideal candidate should have a robust background in traditional data modeling and data architecture (SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, etc.) and have successfully transitioned to cloud-native lakehouse architectures.

This individual will be responsible for defining the data platform strategy, establishing best practices, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the platform can scale to support enterprise analytics, AI, and self-service data consumption.

- Over all 8 + Years of working experience on Data Architecture & Lakehouse Design
- Design and implement enterprise-scale Databricks Lakehouse solutions.
- Define data architecture, governance standards, and data modeling practices.
- Design and optimize Bronze, Silver, and Gold layer architectures.
- Establish best practices for moving data across Medallion Architecture layers.
- Define standards for:
- Reference/master data tables
- Dimensional modelling
- Data domains
- Shared data assets
- Structure lakehouse environments for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Produce architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and lead design reviews.

Skills & Experience Data Modeling & Modernization





- Strong data modeling background with hands-on experience in legacy platforms such as:
- SQL Server
- Oracle
- Teradata
- Traditional data warehouses
- Proven experience transforming legacy data warehouses into cloud-native architectures.
- Ability to modernize:
- Relational data models
- Stored procedures
- ETL workflows
- Data integration patterns
- Experience translating star/snowflake schemas into Delta Lake optimized architectures.
- Ability to bridge traditional DBA/data modeler disciplines with modern cloud architecture practices.

Data Engineering & Platform Optimization

- Deep expertise with:
- Databricks
- Delta Lake
- Unity Catalog
- Workflows
- MLflow
- Strong proficiency in:
- PySpark
- SQL
- Scala (preferred)
- Optimize data structures, storage patterns, and processing pipelines for large-scale growth.
- Design resilient ingestion and storage patterns that minimize operational impact when upstream systems experience outages.
- Establish best practices around:
- Data transformation placement
- ETL/ELT architecture
- Compute optimization
- Cost management
- Performance tuning

Governance, Security & Compliance

- Strong understanding of:
- Data lineage
- Metadata management
- Data quality frameworks
- Enterprise data governance
- Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog governance capabilities.
- Define and implement:
- Role-based access controls (RBAC)
- Row-level security
- Column-level security
- Data masking
- Experience supporting regulated environments, preferably within Financial Services.
- Familiarity with SOX, GDPR, PCI-DSS, and related compliance frameworks.

Analytics & Self-Service Enablement

- Design curated data products and semantic layers for business users.
- Establish scalable frameworks for enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Experience with Databricks AI/BI capabilities.
- Understanding of Genie Spaces/Genie Workspaces and how they can be leveraged for self-service analytics and natural language data access.
- Ability to create reusable data assets that support both reporting and AI use cases.

AI & Databricks Generative AI Capabilities

While deep AI expertise is not required, the candidate should understand and be able to leverage Databricks-native AI capabilities.

- Preferred experience includes:
- Mosaic AI
- MLflow
- Databricks Feature Store
- Vector Search
- Model Serving
- Agent Bricks
- Databricks AI/BI
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
- Building and supporting AI-enabled data products
- Ability to evaluate and lead AI-related proofs of concept is highly desirable.

Leadership & Collaboration

- Lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Establish engineering standards and best practices.
- Work effectively across onshore and offshore teams.




- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineering and business stakeholders.
- Participate in sprint planning, architecture reviews, stakeholder discussions, and strategic platform initiatives.

- Started their career as a data modeler, DBA, or data architect.
- Has deep experience with legacy enterprise data platforms.
- Successfully transitioned to modern cloud-native architectures.
- Can define enterprise data strategy, not just build pipelines.
- Understands how to balance data governance, performance, scalability, and usability.
- Has familiarity with Databricks AI capabilities and can help the organization evolve toward AI-enabled analytics and agentic experiences.
