Job Stream Overview

Positions within this stream require individuals with a recognized professional accounting designation, who will support the accounting, valuation, and product control functions of the World Bank’s capital markets financial instruments; the product control functions for IFC, IBRD, IDA, MIGA and Trust Funds’ liquid investment and borrowings portfolios; and the debt allocation used for IBRD’s cost pass-through loan products.

This stream warrants experience in financial instrument product aligned accounting, implementing accounting policies around financial instruments, independent price verification for investments, financial instrument related data management, and exercising internal controls to ensure accuracy of accounting ledgers and financial statements regarding financial instruments. Candidates must have a demonstrated track record of hands-on experience in financial instruments accounting, be detailed oriented, yet with broad based experience in trouble-shooting and solving issues. Thorough knowledge of treasury products, and particularly ISDA derivatives trade confirmation, as well as proficiency in handling multiple systems, including Murex / OneView / Summit (the front-to-back treasury system are essential.

Candidates may also be assigned to support critical institutional projects and initiatives that seek to enhance the World Bank’s ability to capture and integrate data from different sources into, accounting, valuation and reporting systems and ultimately enable analysis that serves financial and/or management reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities

Structured Finance

- Review accounting entries and perform daily/monthly control activities for the borrowings and




- liquid investments portfolios.
- Analyze accounting results as they relate to the portfolios of the financial instruments unit to
- ensure consistency with expectations and business objectives; and establish associated exception
- and monitoring reports and review and investigation processes, as needed.
- Prepare and/or review system-to-system reconciliations as well as investigate and resolve
- differences.
- Translate new initiatives or financial products into new processes and/or system requirements.
- This includes documenting approaches and processes, drafting business requirements documents,
- test plans, and testing of systems.
- Perform additional and ad hoc duties as requested

Project work

- Support the Summit to Murex transition for back-office operations and treasury accounting processes.
- Configure and validate Murex accounting modules to ensure accurate general ledger entries for bonds, derivatives and other treasure products.
- Perform configuration, validation, and testing of Murex modules related to accounting.
- Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of accounting data for bonds, derivatives and other treasury products.
- Assist in designing and execution of test cases for end-to-end processes for accounting use cases.
- Perform testing for accounting workflows, including trade lifecycle events, accruals, amortizations,



and settlement to ensure accurate accounting and reporting in compliance with financial reporting standards.
- Provide expertise in accounting processes including automation for general ledger reconciliation, analytics and reporting of derivatives and fixed-income products.

Document processes, configurations, and test results to support project deliverables.

Skill Requirements

- Around 5 years of experience working with Murex in back-office operations, treasury accounting or related functions.
- Hands-on expertise in Murex modules for settlement, collateral management, static data, reference data and accounting.
- Expertise in validations, testing and troubleshooting with Murex environments.
- Knowledge of treasury accounting principles, including GL reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Prior experience with Summit or similar trading platforms is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapid-paced project environment.
- Ability to contribute to team performance with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of initiative, self-confidence and a self-starter; proven problem-solving skills, ability to deliver high quality results and operates with minimum supervision.

Other Requirements

- - Educational Qualifications & Certifications: Master's degree, preferably with a major in business administration, accounting, finance, or international trade.
- Experience: Minimum Experience of 5 years in related fields with a public / private financial institution (including IFC/IBRD) or the finance / treasury function of a public / private corporation.
- Professional qualification such as CA/CPA/ACCA/CGMA and/or CFA/FRM is must
