Role Description The Senior AI Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing AI systems that power Superfan.ng’s language and culture learning experiences. Day-to-day tasks include building and refining machine learning models, especially for natural language understanding of African languages and cultural expressions, as well as developing pattern recognition and recommendation algorithms that personalize quizzes and content. The role involves collaborating with product, engineering, and content teams to translate learning objectives into AI-driven features, ensuring models are robust, effective, and aligned with ethical AI practices.

The Senior AI Engineer will also lead experimentation,



evaluate model performance, manage data pipelines, and help define the technical roadmap for AI capabilities across the platform.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Computer Science and Software Development, including data structures, algorithms, and production-grade coding practices.
- Experience with Neural Networks and Pattern Recognition, with a track record of building and deploying machine learning models at scale.
- Hands-on expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP), ideally including multilingual or low-resource language modeling.
- Proficiency in modern ML/AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and data tools (e.g., Python, SQL, cloud platforms).
- Background in architecting end-to-end AI systems: data collection, preprocessing, training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team, with clear communication and collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Interest in African languages and cultures; prior work with edtech or cultural content platforms is a plus.
