Senior AI Engineer / Agent Developer

About the role:

We're looking for a Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and ship LLM-powered applications and autonomous agents that solve real problems for our users. You'll own systems end to end, from prototyping agent workflows and choosing the right models to hardening them for production with solid evaluation, observability, and guardrails. You'll also help raise the bar across the team by mentoring engineers and sharing what works (and what doesn't) in a quick-moving field.

What you'll do

- Design and build AI agents and multi-step workflows that use tool calling, retrieval, memory, and planning to complete complex tasks reliably.
- Develop and maintain retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, including chunking strategies, embeddings, vector search, and reranking.
- Integrate LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, open-weight models) and orchestration frameworks, and make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions.
- Build evaluation frameworks to measure agent quality, accuracy, latency, and cost, and use them to drive iteration rather than intuition.
- Implement guardrails, fallback logic, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints to keep agent behavior secure and predictable.
- Take systems to production: deployment, monitoring, tracing, cost optimization, and incident response.
- Partner with product, design, and domain experts to turn ambiguous problems into well-scoped AI solutions.
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews, pairing, design discussions, and internal knowledge sharing.

What we're looking for
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years building ML or LLM-based applications in production.




- Strong proficiency in Python (TypeScript is a plus) and solid software engineering fundamentals: testing, APIs, system design, and clean code.
- Hands-on experience building agents or agentic workflows, including tool/function calling, multi-step reasoning, and state management.
- Experience with agent and LLM frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or the Model Context Protocol (MCP), plus the judgment to know when not to use a framework.
- Practical knowledge of prompt engineering, RAG architectures, vector databases (e.g., pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant), and embedding models.
- Experience designing LLM evaluations and working with observability tools (e.g., LangSmith, Langfuse, Arize, or custom tracing).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization, and CI/CD.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have
- Teaching or instructional experience of any kind — for example, serving as a teaching assistant, tutor, bootcamp instructor, workshop facilitator, corporate trainer, or lecturer. This doesn't need to be in AI or computer science; we value the ability to break down complex ideas, adapt explanations to different audiences, and help others grow.
- Experience fine-tuning models (LoRA, instruction tuning)



or working with open-weight models and self-hosted inference.
- Background in multi-agent systems, planning, or reinforcement learning.
- Contributions to open-source AI projects, published writing, or conference talks.
- Experience with AI safety, red-teaming, or responsible AI practices.
