Role Overview The Quality Assurance Advisor plays a key role in strengthening first-line control testing and quality assurance capability, maturity, and consistency across a defined business portfolio.

This role supports the delivery of meaningful insights into control effectiveness, risk exposure, and non-compliance. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, the Advisor contributes to the continuous uplift of control testing practices by translating enterprise risk standards into practical testing approaches, quality benchmarks, and reporting expectations.

The role is instrumental in supporting assurance activities that deliver clear, prioritized insights, enabling effective escalation, informed decision-making, and timely business-owned remediation. It also contributes to embedding specialist risk and control capabilities, standards, and practices that help the business deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

- Support the continuous improvement of control testing methodologies, frameworks, templates, and quality standards. Ensure testing activities are performed consistently and in line with approved methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to enhance testing through data-driven techniques and automation.
- Conduct and support control testing and assurance activities to assess control effectiveness and compliance with policies and standards.
- Review testing outcomes and identify control weaknesses, process gaps, and emerging risks.




- Perform root cause analysis and provide recommendations to strengthen controls and improve business outcomes.
- Support targeted reviews and deep dives based on risk exposure and assurance priorities.
- Translate testing outcomes into meaningful risk insights and reporting.
- Support governance forums through assurance reporting and risk-based recommendations.
- Escalate material control issues, non-compliance, and emerging risks through appropriate governance channels.
- Monitor remediation activities and validate sustainable closure of actions.
- Partner with business, risk, compliance, and control stakeholders to improve risk awareness and control effectiveness.
- Provide constructive challenge and support business teams in understanding testing outcomes and remediation requirements.
- Promote a consistent understanding of first-line control testing expectations and risk management practices.
- Contribute to the ongoing uplift of testing, assurance, and governance practices.
- Share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices across teams.
- Demonstrate strong risk culture behaviors, including integrity, independence, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making.

Requirements

- 5-8 years of Experience in Control Testing, Quality Assurance,



Risk Assessment, Compliance Monitoring, Audit, or Operational Risk within a regulated environment.
- Robust understanding of risk and control frameworks, control taxonomies, and enterprise risk management standards.
- Knowledge of business process controls, control design principles, and first-line risk management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to assess control adequacy and effectiveness through testing, root cause analysis, and evidence evaluation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, evaluate risk, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Experience identifying control gaps, process weaknesses, and compliance issues.
- Exposure to assurance methodologies, risk management systems, testing tools, and reporting platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence outcomes.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex risk concepts to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of regulatory obligations relating to conduct, compliance, operational risk, and governance.
