Role & responsibilities

- Provide medical care and treatment to admitted patients.

- Conduct regular patient rounds and monitor clinical progress.

- Take patient history, perform examinations, and make preliminary diagnoses.

- Order and interpret appropriate investigations.

- Prescribe medications and treatments as per clinical needs.

- Attend to medical emergencies and provide first-line management.

- Maintain accurate patient records, case sheets, and clinical documentation.

- Coordinate with consultants, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.

- Ensure proper implementation of doctors orders and treatment plans.

- Monitor vital signs and identify deterioration early.

- Communicate with patients and relatives regarding treatment and progress, within the scope of responsibility.

- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards.

- Prepare discharge summaries and coordinate referrals or transfers when required.

- Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and quality-improvement activities.

- Provide supervision and guidance to junior medical staff where applicable.
