Calvern House Research Foundation (CHRF) is an independent research foundation, multidisciplinary think tank, and global platform focused on research, policy, leadership, and innovation. Designed for long-term growth, it aims to become one of Asia’s leading centers for ideas and public impact. The foundation focuses on solution-oriented, rigorous proprietary research addressing how states, economies, and societies will evolve in the 21st century, making its analysis available to people, governments, and institutions.

CHRF structures its work across six core domains, including foreign policy, public policy, economics, technology, society, and climate, and extends its research through regional desks covering major global regions. Its vision is to convert serious, evidence-based ideas into impactful solutions that advance India’s strategic interests and deepen global engagement with India.

Application Submission → Shortlisting for Interview Round → Writing Task → Final Result Role Description The Researcher (Pro Bono, Remote) will contribute to CHRF’s research agenda by conducting structured literature reviews, gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and producing clear, evidence-based research outputs. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting research notes, briefing papers, and reports; preparing background documents for internal and external stakeholders; and supporting longer-term research projects within one or more thematic centers or regional desks. The role also involves monitoring relevant policy debates and global developments, synthesizing complex information, and collaborating with team members across disciplines and geographies.

This is a full-time, fully remote role, requiring consistent availability, self-directed work, and proactive communication with supervisors and project teams.

Qualifications

- Robust research and analytical skills, including experience with literature reviews, data collection, and qualitative or quantitative analysis.
- Excellent writing and editing abilities, with capacity to produce clear, structured, and well-argued research papers, briefs, and memos.
- Demonstrated interest or background in at least one relevant domain (e.g., foreign policy, public policy, economics and development, technology and AI, society and law, climate and sustainability).
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a full-time, research-focused environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams across regions and time zones.
- Relevant academic training, preferably at the undergraduate or graduate level, in fields such as political science, public policy, economics, international relations, law, technology, environmental studies, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with research tools and methodologies, such as citation management software, data analysis tools, or policy analysis frameworks, is an advantage.
- Prior experience in think tanks, academic research, policy organizations, or similar institutions is beneficial but not mandatory.
