We are hiring for -Research Integrity Screening Advisor

He/She will play a critical role in the pre-publication screening of manuscripts to resolve all identified concerns before acceptance. This role must blend a keen eye for detail, resourcefulness in fact-checking, and clear communication skills with our internal and external publication partners.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze concerns in manuscripts flagged by screening tools to validate flags or remove false positives.
- Decide, according to internal best practices, which concerns can be remediated by the authors before reconsideration, which are false positives indicating that the manuscript is clear to proceed to next steps, and which are true positives to be actioned for withdrawal or rejection.
- Review manuscripts where concerns have been remediated by authors to ensure compliance with requested changes.
- Partner with internal team members and external vendor partners to assess and address integrity flags and remediation of manuscripts.
- Where necessary and determined by protocols and SOPs, communicate concerns to Editors, Publishers, and authors for due consideration, according to relevant publisher policies, COPE guidelines, and industry best practice.
- Become an expert in the use of technologies and tools to provide insights into potential unethical behaviors and provide feedback regarding potential new features or improvements.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the evolving publication ethics landscape, identifying current types of issues, and contributing to policy development and improving workflows to address emergent needs.
- Document case files, project plans,



and statistics with detail to contribute to regular reporting.
- With the assistance of your Team Lead, manage your workload to meet targets, rapidly reprioritizing as urgent issues arise.
- Contribute to other tasks and projects related to ensuring compliance with ethical policies/guidelines (e.g. policy and technology development, contributing to research projects, auditing journals.
- Proactively contribute to meetings and commit to completing actions assigned to you;
- Drive your professional development by seeking out training opportunities.

Requirements
- Educated to a graduate level in STEM or HSS;
- Knowledge/experience of the academic publishing industry, and scholarly publication processes, systems and tools; and specifically in manuscript screening and/or evaluation;
- Familiarity with publication ethics and research integrity issues, and a passion for quality control;
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of any background, seniority or level of experience;
- A high level of computer literacy including knowledge of and experience with Office applications;
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, analytical and time-management skills, with superior attention to detail;
- Positive and proactive approach to problem-solving and task management;
- Strong communication (written and oral) and English language skills;
- Ability to work well under pressure.
