Job Summary

The Research Associate will support the implementation of field-based research activities within the Centre for Commercial Determinants of Health (C-CDoH) at IPH Bengaluru, with a focus on coordinating and supervising commercial environment assessments across four study states. The role will involve planning and coordinating field activities, liaising with state and district authorities, supervising field investigators, and ensuring data collection follows approved protocols, ethical guidelines, and quality standards. The incumbent will also support CAPI-based data collection, GIS-enabled mapping, data management and quality assurance, and contribute to data analysis, project documentation, technical reports, policy briefs, scientific publications, dissemination activities, ethics documentation, and project monitoring.

Education Qualification

MBBS/BDS or an equivalent qualification, along with an MPH or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

Work Experience

Minimum 0 - 3 years of relevant experience.

Desirable Requirements

- Training or experience in Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Medicine or Health Systems Research.

- Experience in coordinating or implementing community-or population-based health surveys;

Experience with electronic data capture platforms (e.g., ODK, Survey CTO, Kobo Toolbox or REDCap).

- Familiarity with GIS-based field mapping and spatial data collection.





- Experience in supervision of field teams and quality assurance of data collection.

- Experience working with large national datasets such as NFHS or similar surveys.

- Must have good knowledge of data collection, analysis and coding qualitative data.

- Experience in publishing scientific journals or contribution to book chapters is desirable.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job location

The position is based out of Bangalore, with frequent travel to project sites across Kerala, Gujarat, Bihar and Tripura.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Coordinate implementation of field activities for the commercial setting assessment across the four study states.

- Support planning, logistics and coordination with state and district authorities for field implementation.

- Supervise field investigators and ensure adherence to study protocols, sampling procedures and ethical standards.

- Oversee CAPI-based data collection and conduct routine quality assurance and field verification exercises.

- Support GIS-enabled mapping of commercial exposure indicators, including retail environments, outdoor advertising and related commercial determinants of health.

- Ensure timely documentation and secure transfer of field data.

- Contribute to data management, preliminary analyses, technical reports, policy briefs, manuscripts and dissemination activities.

- Maintain project documentation and support ethics and progress reporting.

Duration

The duration of the employment will be for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and extension of the project and availability of funds.

Age Limit
