The Regional Sales Manager acts as a second-line sales leader responsible for executing corporate strategies and achieving primary and secondary sales targets across an assigned geographical region. You will serve as a coach and mentor to first-line managers (ASMs), build robust relationships with key medical experts, and manage regional distribution networks.Key Responsibilities1. Sales Target & Revenue Management
- Drive primary and secondary sales to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual regional targets.
- Analyze product-wise and territory-wise sales performance to spot gaps and implement corrective measures.
- Forecast regional sales demand, manage budgets, and schedule operational expenditures.
2. Team Leadership & Coaching
- Manage, train, and motivate a team of Area Sales Managers and Medical Representatives.
- Conduct joint field visits with the team to evaluate performance, coach on selling skills, and improve doctor call quality.
- Review and approve monthly/weekly tour and work plans for ASMs.
- Participate in talent acquisition, onboarding, and ongoing product/compliance training.
3. Key Opinion Leader (KOL) & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with Key Opinion Leader (KOL) doctors, major hospitals, and medical institutions.
- Oversee the execution of Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, doctor meets, and product launch events.
4. Channel & Distribution Management
- Coordinate with regional stockists, distributors,
and C&F; agents to ensure optimal stock availability.
- Monitor primary dispatch, secondary sales tracking, claims settlement, and timely payment collections.
5. Market Intelligence & Compliance
- Track competitor activities, pricing moves, and new product introductions within the region.
- Ensure all promotional activities and team operations strictly comply with company policies and pharmaceutical marketing ethics/statutory guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Science (B.Sc.), or a Business/Marketing equivalent (MBA preferred).
- Experience: 10–15 years of overall pharmaceutical sales experience, with at least 3–5 years in a second-line management role (as an RSM or senior ASM).
- Core Competencies:
- Deep understanding of regional pharmaceutical markets, customer behavior, and competitor dynamics.
- Strong leadership, conflict-resolution, and data-driven analytical skills.
- Excellent networking capabilities with local medical fraternities and stockist networks.
- Travel Requirements: Extensive travel across the assigned territory (typically 30% to 50% field presence).
