Company Name: Methode Electronics India Pvt Ltd
Experience – 2 to 10 years
Education: Qualified CMA
Work Location: Bengaluru The Global Sales Controller is the strategic financial partner to the global sales, program management, and finance organisation. The role owns three primary pillars: product costing, sales pricing, and sales & revenue forecasting. Together these determine whether the company quotes profitable business, protects margin over the life of a program, and forecasts revenue reliably.
The role provides financial transparency across regions, product lines, and OEM programs; sets and governs the cost and price basis on which commercial commitments are made; and steers profitability in a fast-paced, highly competitive automotive environment
Roles and Expectations
1. Product Costing (Advanced Knowledge — Governance & Steering)
- Own and govern the global product costing framework — methodology, standards, calculation logic and approval rules — and ensure consistent application across all plants, product lines and programs.
- Interpret cost performance against standard — purchase price variance, material usage, labour and machine efficiency, absorption and manufacturing variances — and drive root-cause resolution and corrective action with Operations and Procurement.
- Provide governance over lifecycle cost assumptions — launch cost curves, learning curves, tooling and D&D; amortisation, ramp-up and end-of-life impacts — and ensure they flow correctly into program business cases and forecasts.
- Act as the global escalation and decision point on costing disputes; build costing capability, consistency, and discipline across regional and plant costing teams.
2. Sales Pricing & Commercial Governance (Primary)
- Own the global pricing framework: price build-up logic, target margin thresholds, price lists and quote pricing models.
- Set and validate selling prices for new business, engineering changes, service and aftermarket parts, tooling, and development recoveries.
- Design, negotiate and administer FX indexation and escalation mechanisms; manage pass-through calculations, customer claims, and recovery tracking.
- Lead price increase and margin recovery campaigns; quantify exposure, prepare the commercial argumentation, and support Key Account Managers in customer negotiations.
- Govern the pricing approval process:
approval matrix, margin floors, deviation and exception handling, discounts, rebates, LTA give-backs, and commercial adjustments.
- Analyse contribution margin and profitability by customer, program, platform, and part number; identify and escalate loss-making parts and programs.
- Perform price–volume–mix analysis and quantify the earnings impact of pricing decisions.
- Advise on contract terms with financial consequence: payment terms, volume commitments, obsolescence and inventory clauses, capacity reservation, termination, and margin protection.
3. Sales & Revenue Forecasting, Budgeting and Long-Range Planning (Primary)
- Lead global sales forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning (LRP) cycles.
- Prepare global revenue forecasts and budgets and analyse variances against budget, prior periods and strategic targets.
- Monitor global order intake, revenue, price development, mix effects and margin performance.
- Consolidate global sales data across regions, product lines and OEM programs into a single, reconciled view.
- Align volume, price and revenue assumptions with Program Management, production planning and supply chain.
- Model award and lifecycle revenue scenarios for booked, quoted and pipeline business.
4. Performance Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly sales, pricing and margin performance reports and dashboards for executive leadership.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis on customer projects and work across functions to build and track recovery plans.
- Develop and enhance management reporting tools, KPIs and automated dashboards.
- Perform ad-hoc financial modelling and scenario analysis to support executive decision-making.
- Provide insights on market trends, customer developments, cost benchmarks, and competitive benchmarking.
5. Commercial Decision Support
- Evaluate commercial proposals, RFQs and business cases to confirm profitability and adherence to financial KPIs (margin, payback, NPV, IRR, cash).
- Support global sales leadership with data insights for pricing strategy, customer negotiations and program acquisition decisions.
- Collaborate with Key Account Managers, Program Management and Operations Controlling to validate volume scenarios, cost assumptions and lifecycle impacts.
- Support M&A; evaluations related to customer portfolios or product segments.
6. Data Integrity, Compliance & Controls
- Maintain accurate and consistent global sales and costing financial data and master data structures (customers, platforms, programs, parts, pricing, cost rates).
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate guidelines and revenue recognition standards (US GAAP).
- Ensure costing and inventory valuation comply with applicable accounting standards and corporate policy.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for pricing decisions, cost calculations and commercial approvals.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance, Program Management, Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Sales and Strategy teams.
- Act as the financial reference point between commercial and manufacturing organisations on cost and price matters.
- Challenge assumptions constructively across functions to protect profitability.
