At Leanwatts, we are focused on developing innovative power electronic solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) and Battery storage systems through continuous research and development. Our commitment to excellence and a “Designed and Made in India” ethos drives us to create and deliver sustainable products for the future of transportation.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Quality Lead to lead Leanwatts' Customer Quality, Field Quality and Warranty processes.
The role will establish, implement and maintain quality systems capable of meeting IATF 16949 expectations, while ensuring consistent product quality and customer satisfaction across:
- 2W / 3W EV chargers and onboard charging products
- DC fast-charging power modules and converters
- Hybrid inverters, PCS and energy products
- Future Leanwatts integrated power-electronics platforms
You will own the quality system from incoming/internal process controls through final inspection, customer documentation, audits, complaint closure and continuous improvement. Supplier and sub-supplier audits are outside the scope of this role for now.
What will You do:
- Own internal line quality across assembly, testing, rework and final inspection, including line controls, quality gates and escalation mechanisms.
- Establish and maintain Leanwatts' Quality Management System and processes required to progressively meet IATF 16949 requirements.
- Define and maintain process quality documentation including PFMEA, control plans, work instructions, inspection standards, check sheets and traceability requirements.
- Drive layered process audits, internal quality audits, process compliance reviews and closure of internal non-conformities and CAPA.
- Work closely with R&D;, Manufacturing, Service and Supply Chain to eliminate recurring defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Own customer quality expectations, customer complaints, escalation discipline, 8D/CAPA responses and communication with customer engineering and quality teams.
- Manage customer audits and quality reviews, including audit preparation, evidence, corrective actions and closure of observations.
- Own PPAP/APQP and customer-specific quality documentation, submissions, change-control records and production-part approval readiness.
- Track internal and customer quality metrics including first-pass yield, rejection/rework, PPM, customer complaints, warranty/returns, repeat defects and CAPA ageing.
- Lead quality readiness for new product introduction, pilot builds and production ramp-up, ensuring controls are established before release.
- Build a disciplined quality culture through daily/weekly reviews, defect containment, root-cause problem solving, lessons learned and sustained corrective-action verification.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, Quality Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing quality, process quality, customer quality or plant quality roles in automotive/electronics manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on experience managing shop-floor/line quality teams, non-conformance control, CAPA and production quality systems.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining an automotive-style QMS, preferably in an IATF 16949 environment or IATF readiness program.
- Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, 8D, 5-Why, CAPA and internal/process audits.
- Solid customer-facing communication and documentation skills, including handling customer audits, PPAP submissions, quality escalations and closure commitments.
- Ability to interpret drawings, test data, process/test logs and failure evidence and work effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Experience in EV, automotive electronics, power electronics, chargers, inverters, BESS or other high-volume electronic manufacturing is preferred.
What Success look like:
You build and sustain a quality system that repeatedly delivers:
Process Control → Defect Prevention → Audit Readiness → Customer Approval → Corrective Action → Sustained Improvement with stable line quality, IATF-ready systems, strong customer audit/PPAP performance, lower defects and repeat failures, and consistently reliable production output.
