Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance, quality systems, vendor quality, process quality, new product quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, 7 QC Tools, 8D Problem Solving and Quality Audits.
The candidate should have robust knowledge of manufacturing processes including Sheet Metal Fabrication, Plastic Injection Moulding, Welding, Powder Coating, CED Coating and Assembly Operations, with product exposure to Fasteners, Rubber & Plastic Components, Wiring Harnesses, Mechanical Assemblies, Extruded Components and Tubular Components.
Experience in Automotive Aftermarket, Commercial Vehicles, Industrial Components, International Supply Chain and Global Sourcing will be highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management & Quality Systems
- Lead the overall Quality function and ensure effective implementation of the Quality Management System.
- Establish, implement and maintain quality policies, procedures, standards and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and applicable customer-specific requirements.
- Drive continual improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Monitor quality KPIs including PPM, rejection, rework, customer complaints and COPQ.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive action systems.
- Promote a strong culture of defect prevention and continuous improvement.
2. IATF 16949 & Quality System Audits
- Ensure ongoing compliance with IATF 16949 requirements.
- Plan and conduct internal System, Process and Product Audits.
- Coordinate external certification and surveillance audits.
- Prepare the organisation for IATF 16949 certification and recertification audits.
- Manage audit findings, non-conformities and corrective actions.
- Ensure effective root-cause analysis and timely closure of audit findings.
- Maintain all quality system documentation and records.
3. Customer & Third-Party Audits
- Coordinate and manage customer quality audits.
- Support customer-specific audits and assessments.
- Coordinate audits by certification bodies and external agencies.
- Ensure timely closure of customer and third-party audit observations.
- Maintain audit readiness across all functions.
- Develop action plans and monitor effectiveness of corrective actions.
4. Supplier / Vendor Quality
- Evaluate and qualify new vendors based on technical and quality requirements.
- Conduct vendor capability assessments, process audits and quality evaluations.
- Monitor vendor quality performance and drive corrective actions.
- Conduct Supplier Process Audits and follow up on improvement actions.
- Drive reduction in supplier PPM, rejection and quality-related disruptions.
- Develop improvement plans for underperforming vendors.
5. APQP & PPAP
- Lead APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities.
- Manage PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for new and modified components.
- Review and approve supplier PPAP documentation.
- Review Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA and Capability Studies.
- Ensure quality readiness at prototype, pilot and mass-production stages.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific PPAP requirements.
6. Quality Tools & Problem Solving
- Implement and drive the use of 7 QC Tools.
- Lead structured 8D Problem Solving for customer, supplier and internal quality issues.
- Apply 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto Analysis and other RCA techniques.
- Ensure robust corrective and preventive actions.
- Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
9. Customer Complaint Management
- Lead investigation and resolution of customer complaints.
- Coordinate immediate containment and root-cause analysis.
- Lead supplier and internal 8D investigations.
- Ensure permanent corrective and preventive actions.
- Track recurring quality issues and implement systemic improvements.
- Drive customer complaint and warranty reduction initiatives.
10. New Product Development
- Participate in new product development from a quality perspective.
- Review drawings, specifications and customer quality requirements.
- Identify potential manufacturing and quality risks.
- Support DFM and manufacturability reviews.
- Ensure quality readiness for prototype, pilot and mass production.
- Work closely with Engineering, Purchase, Production and R&D; teams.
11. International Supply Chain & Global Sourcing
- Support quality evaluation of international suppliers.
- Coordinate PPAP, inspection and validation activities for globally sourced components.
- Assess quality risks associated with international sourcing.
- Support localisation and alternate domestic sourcing from a quality perspective.
