About The Role The Senior Quality Engineer I for the Enterprise Commerce team is a pivotal technical leadership role within the Marriott Tech Accelerator. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality assurance and automation excellence across multiple commerce tracks. The role involves designing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams, and advancing automation practices to support scalable, secure, and reliable commerce solutions.

The Senior Quality

Engineer I will lead quality initiatives, mentor team members,



and drive continuous improvement to uphold Marriott’s commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences through innovative technology solutions.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in automation scripting for large-scale applications, with a strong background in backend systems and RESTful APIs. A minimum of 4+ years of experience working with Kafka-dependent applications is required, along with at least 6+ years of expertise in Spring Boot and Java application development and automation.

Experience integrating automation test scripts within CI/CD pipelines is essential. Candidates should have solid knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Couchbase, and experience working with cloud platforms like AWS. Proven leadership skills managing distributed and offshore quality engineering teams are highly valued. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are necessary to succeed in this role.

Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience with Tricentis Tosca, Smartbear ReadyAPI, Cucumber BDD, or Karate BDD. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.

Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor quality engineering teams, ensuring the integrity and reliability of all commerce-related deliverables.
- Design, implement, and optimize automation frameworks and testing strategies for complex backend systems, REST APIs, Kafka-dependent applications, NoSQL databases, and cloud-based deployments.
- Validate and automate test cases for event-driven architectures and cloud infrastructure, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.




- Integrate test cases seamlessly with CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous testing and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to align testing activities with release schedules and strategic priorities.
- Drive process improvements in test automation, defect management, and testing coverage, proactively identifying gaps and implementing solutions.
- Facilitate technical training and development initiatives to elevate the overall quality standards of the team.
- Coordinate testing schedules, monitor execution, and report errors and issues for timely resolution.
- Contribute to risk identification and ongoing monitoring to mitigate potential quality issues.
- Review and approve test scripts and automation flows, ensuring adherence to best practices and organizational standards.
