Job Summary:

Orion Fashions is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager – Leather Bags to lead the complete quality function for leather bags, handbags, SLGs and accessories. The candidate will be responsible for establishing strong quality systems, ensuring compliance with buyer requirements, controlling defects at every production stage, and ensuring that only quality-approved products are released for shipment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the complete Quality Assurance function for leather bags and accessories from incoming material to final shipment.
- Develop, implement and maintain QA SOPs, quality systems, inspection procedures and checkpoints.
- Ensure production follows approved samples, tech packs, buyer specifications and defined quality standards.
- Conduct and supervise incoming material, pre-production, inline, end-line and final inspections.
- Ensure quality inspection of leather, lining, hardware, zippers, trims, threads, adhesives and packing materials.
- Check leather for shade, thickness, grain, finish, defects and suitability before cutting and production.
- Monitor quality at critical production stages including:
- Cutting and skiving
- Preparation and reinforcement
- Edge painting
- Stitching
- Zipper and hardware attachment
- Handles and straps
- Lining attachment
- Assembly
- Finishing and packing
- Implement and maintain AQL standards as per buyer and company requirements.
- Review PP samples, pilot production and bulk-production readiness before production starts.




- Conduct pre-production quality meetings with Merchandising, Production, Cutting, Sampling and Technical teams.
- Identify potential quality risks before bulk production and establish preventive controls.
- Monitor and analyze DHU, rejection, alteration, rework and defect trends.
- Carry out Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring quality issues and ensure effective Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA).
- Ensure quality issues are controlled at source rather than being identified only at final inspection.
- Investigate buyer complaints and prepare detailed corrective-action reports.
- Ensure timely closure of internal and external quality complaints.
- Maintain buyer-wise and style-wise inspection records and quality reports.
- Coordinate product and material testing with internal or external laboratories.
- Ensure compliance with buyer-specific testing, safety, performance and workmanship standards.
- Monitor vendor and subcontractor quality performance and conduct quality audits where required.
- Establish clear responsibilities and accountability within the QA/QC team.
- Train and guide Quality Inspectors, QCs and production teams on standards, defect prevention and inspection methods.
- Review QA team performance and ensure consistent inspection practices.
- Work closely with Production, Merchandising, Sampling, Cutting, Store, Finishing and Packing teams.




- Ensure no non-conforming product or material moves to the next production stage without approval.
- Hold or stop production where serious quality deviations are identified and escalate issues to management immediately.
- Support buyer visits, quality audits and factory inspections.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly Quality MIS for management review.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, rejection, rework and customer complaints.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

- Minimum 10 years of Quality Assurance experience in leather bags, handbags, SLGs and accessories.
- Strong technical knowledge of leather bag construction and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent understanding of leather grading, shade variation, thickness, surface defects and finishing.
- Strong knowledge of stitching, edge painting, hardware, zippers, reinforcement, lining and finishing standards.
- Good knowledge of AQL, RCA, CAPA, SOP, QMS and quality audits.
- Robust understanding of international buyer quality requirements and testing standards.
- Ability to analyze defects and implement preventive measures.
- Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
- Good documentation, reporting and MIS skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.

Qualification: Graduate/Diploma in Leather Technology, Leather Goods, Quality Management, Fashion Accessories or related discipline preferred.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Final inspection pass rate, DHU percentage, rejection and rework rate, first-time-right percentage, buyer complaints, CAPA closure, audit compliance, recurring defect reduction, timely quality clearance, and overall improvement in product quality.
