About AlignAV

AlignAV is a cloud SaaS platform, built in Australia, that monitors and manages AV and meeting-room technology at scale the displays, controllers, codecs and room systems spread across university campuses and enterprise sites. We ingest live telemetry from edge gateways and vendor cloud platforms, turn it into an honest, real-time picture of every room and device, and layer AI on top so operators can simply ask the platform what is going on in their fleet. We are a small, founder-led team that ships to production continuously and runs an AI-native engineering workflow.

About the Role

We are looking for a mid-to-senior Python/Django developer to help build and scale the platform backend, our edge integrations, and our AI features. Twelve months in, you will have shipped integration modules that pull data from real AV control systems into the cloud, hardened a telemetry pipeline that must stay truthful even when networks and devices fail, and built AI features that answer real operational questions over live fleet data. This role suits someone who likes working close to real hardware and real production systems, and who cares that what the screen says matches what is actually happening.

What You’ll Do

- Design, build and maintain backend APIs and services with Django and Django REST Framework on Azure
- Build and extend containerized edge integration modules (Azure IoT Edge, Linux) that poll or receive data from AV vendor systems and stream normalized telemetry to the cloud
- Work on the telemetry ingestion pipeline — IoT Hub / Event Hub consumers, checkpointing, backpressure,



last-state stores and status normalization — where correctness under failure is a hard requirement
- Build AI/LLM-powered features: a fleet assistant that answers questions over live fleet data, AI-assisted data import and updates (always as reviewable, staged proposals), and anomaly detection and insights over telemetry
- Implement background jobs, schedulers and async processing; work with time-series and analytics data for monitoring, dashboards and reporting
- Write tested, well-documented code — every change ships with its tests green, and features are validated on a deployed workplace, including deliberate failure drills
- Work in an AI-native, ticket-driven workflow (agentic coding tools, Linear, CI/CD) directly with the founder

Required Skills & Experience

- 1–6 years of professional software development, with strong hands-on Python and Django (including Django REST Framework)
- Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered features or agentic workflows — working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI), prompt and tool design, retrieval over structured data — and/or applied ML (e.g. scikit-learn) for classification and anomaly detection
- Solid IoT and messaging fundamentals: MQTT, REST, WebSockets or AMQP; message brokers, queues or IoT hubs; edge gateway and device telemetry concepts




- Strong SQL and PostgreSQL experience; comfortable with Docker and Linux environments
- Git and CI/CD as a daily habit; disciplined about tests, PRs and clean, reviewable changes
- Able to debug a distributed system end-to-end — trace a wrong value from the device all the way to the UI, rather than guessing at causes

Good to Have

- Azure experience: IoT Hub, IoT Edge, Container Apps, Event Hubs, Key Vault, Azure Data Explorer
- Time-series databases (ADX, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB) and analytics workloads
- Kubernetes or other container orchestration
- Security concepts: certificates, mTLS, OAuth/JWT, role-based access control
- Exposure to AV/UC or building-technology ecosystems (e.g. Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms) or other device-monitoring platforms
- Enough React to read and reason about the frontend that consumes your APIs

- A hands-on, delivery-focused engineer who takes ownership from ticket to production
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, small-team environment with direct access to the founder
- Strong written communication — much of our workflow runs asynchronously through tickets and PRs
- Someone who enjoys being hands-on with physical devices, networks and edge hardware, not just cloud code

Work Model

- On-site role based in Mumbai, working day-to-day with real gateway and device hardware as we grow our India presence
- Close collaboration with our Australian HQ — Indian working hours give a natural overlap with the Australian dayRole & responsibilities
