: Purchase Officer (Pharma OSD)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Officer to manage the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and engineering stores for our Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry, possessing a solid understanding of vendor management, material planning, and the strict regulatory compliance frameworks required in a cGMP environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Material Procurement: Source and procure Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), Excipients, and Packaging Materials (Primary & Secondary) required for tablet and capsule manufacturing.
- Purchase Order Management: Process material requisitions, generate accurate Purchase Orders (POs) via ERP/SAP, and track orders from placement to delivery.
- Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors. Maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing suppliers to ensure steady material supply.
- Price Negotiation: Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to maximize cost-efficiency without compromising quality.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with Production, Stores/Warehouse, Quality Control (QC), and Quality Assurance (QA)



to align material availability with the production plan.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure all procurement activities comply with cGMP, WHO, and regulatory guidelines. Maintain comprehensive purchase registers and documentation required for regulatory audits.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels to prevent stock-outs or excess dead stock, ensuring optimum material tracking.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in B.Pharm, B.Sc., B.Com, or BBA. A post-graduate diploma or MBA in Material Management / Supply Chain is a plus.
- Experience: 2 to 3 years of core purchasing experience specifically within a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant (OSD experience strongly preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP/SAP (MM Module) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Core Competencies:
- Valuable understanding of pharma commercial terms, billing documentation, and Goods Receipt Notes (GRN).
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of pharma raw materials, regulatory requirements, and vendor qualification processes.
