Role & responsibilities

- Manage the complete Purchase & Procurement function from requirement generation to material delivery.
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to achieve cost, quality and delivery objectives.
- Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for various raw materials, components and services.
- Source materials based on production, project and operational requirements.
- Obtain and analyze quotations, negotiate price, payment terms, delivery schedules and commercial conditions.
- Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure compliance with approved commercial terms.
- Monitor supplier performance with respect to quality, cost and delivery (QCD).
- Ensure timely procurement of materials to avoid production/project delays.
- Develop alternate sources and maintain a strong vendor database to minimize supply risks.
- Conduct regular market research for price trends, new suppliers and alternative materials.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Projects, Stores, Quality, Engineering, Finance and Sales/Project teams.
- Track pending POs and ensure timely follow-up with suppliers.
- Resolve issues related to material shortages, quality, delivery delays and commercial discrepancies.
- Manage procurement for both project-specific and regular manufacturing requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation, purchase records, comparative statements and vendor-related data.
- Support inventory and working capital optimization by ensuring appropriate procurement planning.
- Lead vendor negotiations and drive cost reduction and savings initiatives.




- Participate in vendor audits, evaluations and performance reviews.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and approval processes.
- Handle a team of purchase executives/buyers and monitor their performance.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of Purchase & Procurement Management.
- Excellent vendor negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Solid knowledge of raw materials, engineering items, components and manufacturing-related procurement.
- Experience in project-based procurement will be preferred.
- Good understanding of costing, quotation comparison and commercial negotiations.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Good knowledge of SAP/Purchase Management systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
- Strong team management and coordination skills.

Qualification

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commerce or a related field.

MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Procurement will be an added advantage.
