: Purchase Engineer – Control Panel

Job Purpose: The Purchase Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities for the Control Panel department. This role involves component sourcing, vendor management, BOM verification, price negotiations, and supply chain coordination to support control panel manufacturing, ensuring high quality, cost efficiency, and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

- Component Sourcing & Procurement: Identify, evaluate, and procure high-quality control panel components including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, switchgear, relays, MCBs, contactors, cables, enclosures, and accessories.
- Vendor Management & Onboarding: Evaluate, onboard, and maintain solid strategic relationships with manufacturers, authorized distributors, and local suppliers.
- BOM Verification: Thoroughly review and verify Bills of Materials (BOM) provided by the design and engineering teams to ensure accurate specifications, quantities, and compatibility prior to placing Purchase Orders (POs).
- Price Negotiation & Cost Optimization: Negotiate optimal pricing, commercial terms, credit/payment terms, and delivery schedules to minimize overall project costs.
- Cost Analysis & Evaluation: Conduct comparative cost analysis and evaluate quotes from multiple suppliers to achieve maximum value without compromising quality standards.
- Supply Chain & Obsolescence Management: Monitor market trends, lead times, and component lifecycles; proactively identify alternatives or equivalents for obsolete or long-lead-time components to prevent project delays.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:



Coordinate closely with design, engineering, quality, and store teams to ensure smooth inventory alignment, material receipts, and vendor issue resolution.

Technical & Professional Skills Required:

- Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of industrial automation products and major electrical switchgear brands (e.g., Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, Rockwell Automation, Omron, L&T;, Eaton).
- Blueprint & Technical Reading: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), technical datasheets, and engineering specifications.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, or similar) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Commercial & Negotiation Skills: Proven track record in negotiating high-value contracts, bulk purchasing, and favorable commercial terms.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical capabilities to resolve procurement bottlenecks, manage supplier performance, and handle supply chain disruptions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface effectively with internal engineering teams and external partners.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

- Procurement Cost Savings: Percentage reduction in component costs against project baseline budgets.
- On-Time Delivery (OTD): Adherence to procurement schedules to avoid assembly line downtime.
- BOM Accuracy: Error-free PO generation matching engineering BOMs.
- Vendor Performance: On-time delivery and quality compliance rates across primary suppliers.
