Role

We are looking for a solid Linux and virtualization engineer with hands-on experience with Proxmox VE . The engineer will help us build, customize, integrate, deploy, and maintain infrastructure based on Proxmox and related open-source technologies.

Responsibilities

- Install, configure, customize, and maintain Proxmox VE.
- Build and manage Proxmox clusters.
- Work with KVM/QEMU virtual machines and LXC containers.
- Integrate Proxmox functionality into our own platform/product.
- Work with Proxmox REST APIs and automation.
- Automate VM/container provisioning, lifecycle management, networking, storage, backups, and monitoring.
- Configure HA, live migration, replication, snapshots, and disaster recovery.
- Configure networking: Linux bridges, VLANs, bonding, routing, firewalling, SDN, etc.
- Integrate storage such as ZFS, Ceph, NFS, iSCSI and other storage systems.
- Troubleshoot Linux, virtualization, networking, storage, and performance issues.
- Harden servers and virtualization infrastructure.
- Build monitoring, logging, alerting, and backup systems.
- Document architecture, deployment, recovery, and operational procedures.

Required Skills





- Strong hands-on Proxmox VE experience.
- Linux administration — preferably Debian/Ubuntu.
- KVM/QEMU and LXC.
- Proxmox API.
- Bash/Python scripting.
- REST APIs.
- TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, routing and firewalling.
- ZFS and/or Ceph.
- High availability and clustering.
- Backup and disaster recovery.
- Git and automation tools.

Strong Advantage

- Experience modifying/integrating open-source infrastructure products.
- Terraform / Ansible.
- Proxmox Backup Server.
- Ceph clusters.
- SDN.
- Prometheus/Grafana.
- Large multi-node infrastructure.
- Experience building a commercial product on top of open-source infrastructure.

Interview Practical Test Candidate should be able to:

1. Deploy a small Proxmox cluster.
2. Create VM and LXC workloads.
3. Configure VLAN/networking.
4. Provision a VM through API/automation.
5. Explain HA and migration.
6. Diagnose a deliberately introduced networking/storage problem.
7. Explain how they would integrate Proxmox functionality into a separate management platform.
