Job Summary:

The proposed project aims to develop and validate a proof-of-concept deep learning-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) model for the detection and classification of fungal hyphae in microscopic preparations of clinical specimens, including KOH-Calcofluor and biopsy specimens. Expert-annotated microscopic images will be used to train a U-Net-based deep learning model for multi-class segmentation. The model will be validated using independent datasets, and its performance will be compared with expert interpretation. The project will also develop a prototype smartphone-based application, “KOH Buddy,” to provide bench-side decision support and facilitate standardized interpretation of fungal microscopy

Salary : Rs.72,800/- p.m

Key Responsibilities:

- Processing clinical specimens for fungal culture and preparing, staining, and examining microscopic slides. Perform specialised tests such as molecular tests.
- Scanning slides using an automated slide scanner and acquiring high-quality microscopic images.
- Annotating and organizing images using designated image-analysis software.
- Should be able to work on softwares and other computer related devices such as tablets




- Performing image quality control and coordinating with IT/technical support for image processing, software-related issues, and troubleshooting.
- Collecting and maintaining relevant clinical and laboratory data.
- Maintaining study records, databases, and project documentation.
- Performing data entry and assisting with preliminary data analysis and interpretation.
- Assisting the Principal Investigator in preparation of reports, presentations, and research-related documentation.
- Monitoring and maintaining laboratory consumables and assisting with procurement and inventory management
- Assisting with project accounts, office work, correspondence, and other administrative activities related to the project.
- Ensuring proper documentation, confidentiality, and adherence to the approved study protocol and institutional requirements.

Eligibility Criteria:

Preferred Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in Microbiology/Life sciences, including the integrated PG degrees

Age Limit: 35 Years

Preferred Language: English
