Project Head – IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) Plant

Greenfield Petrochemical Project | Panagarh, West Bengal A large, well-funded chemical group is building India's largest chemical cluster at Panagarh, Durgapur (West Bengal) — starting with a 50,000 TPA greenfield IPA plant, alongside a Hydrogen Generation unit and OSBL/Utilities. This is a long-term, multi-project pipeline, not a single-plant assignment.

We're looking for a Project Head to take single-point accountability for the IPA project from detailed engineering through mechanical completion, commissioning, and PGTR (Performance Guarantee Test Run).

What you'll own

- End-to-end project execution — engineering review, HAZOP/SIL, procurement of long-lead equipment, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations
- Coordination with the technology licensor, EPC contractor, Owner's PMC, and in-house teams
- Cold and hot commissioning and Performance Guarantee Test Runs (PGTR) through to steady-state handover
- CAPEX budget, cost control, and Board-level reporting
- Building and mentoring the owner's project team

What you bring

- 15–25 years in chemical/petrochemical plant projects, with 8–10 years in a project leadership role (Projects Manager / Commissioning Manager level — operations-only backgrounds won't fit this one)
- Project experience in Hydrogen Plants and Hydrotreaters (Naphtha, Diesel, VGO, or Slurry Hydrotreater),



and/or IPA project experience — candidates without direct IPA exposure but with a strong refinery/petrochemical project background are also welcome
- Direct IPA exposure is a robust plus, from any of these backgrounds:

◦ Commissioning or operations leadership on continuous alcohol/solvent plants, including high-purity, electronic-grade or pharma-grade IPA finishing (distillation, azeotropic column balancing, purification/drying trains) ◦ Technology-licensor experience leading cold/hot commissioning and PGTRs across greenfield plants using hydrogenation-based or catalytic hydration IPA processes

◦ EPC-side commissioning leadership on greenfield IPA or solvent-recovery plants, including azeotropic distillation and drying/purification trains

- Genuine end-to-end delivery experience: concept to commissioning, with operational exposure
- Prior rotational/expat greenfield project assignments are a plus — comfortable working through a full project lifecycle to completion
- Comfortable relocating to Durgapur, West Bengal for a minimum of 18–24 months (long-term roles available across the wider cluster)
