Job Summary:

Orion Fashions is looking for a highly experienced Production Manager – Leather Bags to independently manage end-to-end production of leather bags, handbags, SLGs and accessories. The candidate will be responsible for production planning, manpower utilization, line balancing, productivity, WIP control, quality coordination, timely order execution and shipment readiness.

The role requires robust hands-on knowledge of leather bag manufacturing processes, technical construction, production systems and team management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage complete production operations for leather bags and accessories from cutting/preparation through stitching, assembly, finishing and packing.
- Prepare and execute daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on order priority, shipment dates and available capacity.
- Ensure achievement of production targets as per planned quantity and timeline.
- Allocate manpower, machines and workstations according to style complexity and production requirements.
- Monitor Plan vs. Actual production on a daily basis and take corrective action for shortfalls.
- Maintain smooth feeding of work to production lines and avoid bottlenecks or idle time.
- Coordinate closely with PPC, Merchandising, Cutting, Store, Quality, Maintenance and Shipping departments.
- Ensure leather, lining, hardware, trims and other required materials are available before production starts.
- Review production files, approved samples, specifications and buyer requirements before bulk production.
- Conduct pre-production meetings with concerned departments for critical styles and new developments.
- Ensure proper line setting and production start-up for each new style.




- Monitor key manufacturing operations including:
- Cutting and skiving
- Component preparation
- Reinforcement
- Edge painting
- Stitching
- Zipper attachment
- Hardware fitting
- Handles and straps
- Lining
- Assembly
- Finishing
- Packing
- Ensure production follows approved construction, specifications and workmanship standards.
- Work with Quality team to control defects at the production stage and minimize rework.
- Monitor WIP at every stage and ensure balanced production flow.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective measures immediately.
- Improve line productivity through line balancing, method improvement and proper manpower deployment.
- Control production losses, rework, rejection and unnecessary material consumption.
- Monitor operator efficiency and section-wise productivity.
- Ensure proper production planning for high-fashion, complex and buyer-specific leather bag styles.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for timely machine servicing and breakdown resolution.
- Monitor production capacity and provide realistic output commitments to PPC and management.
- Ensure timely completion of orders for final inspection and shipment.
- Conduct regular floor rounds to monitor production progress, quality and discipline.
- Maintain accurate daily production reports, WIP reports, target vs. achievement reports and efficiency MIS.
- Review production performance with supervisors and in-charges on a daily basis.
- Set clear responsibilities and targets for line supervisors,



section in-charges and production teams.
- Train and develop production staff to improve technical skills and productivity.
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety, housekeeping, discipline and factory systems.
- Support management in capacity planning, production expansion and process-improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

- Minimum 20 years of hands-on experience in leather bags / leather goods production.
- Strong technical knowledge of handbags, wallets, SLGs, backpacks and leather accessories.
- Thorough understanding of leather characteristics, bag construction and production techniques.
- Strong knowledge of stitching, skiving, edge painting, hardware fitting, assembly and finishing.
- Excellent understanding of production planning, line balancing, WIP control and capacity management.
- Strong knowledge of quality standards and defect-prevention methods.
- Ability to manage large production teams and multiple styles simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and production troubleshooting skills.
- Positive understanding of production MIS, target setting and efficiency measurement.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and production reporting systems.
- Strong leadership, communication and interdepartmental coordination skills.

Preferred Qualification: Diploma/Graduate in Leather Goods Technology, Production Management, Footwear/Leather Technology, Fashion Accessories or related discipline preferred. Extensive practical production experience will be given priority.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Production target achievement, daily Plan vs. Actual performance, line efficiency, manpower productivity, WIP control, rejection/rework percentage, on-time order completion, shipment readiness, machine utilization, production cost control, and overall production efficiency.
