Role Overview

We are looking for a Production Lead to own SMT and box build production readiness, execution, quality discipline, and continuous improvement for electronics manufacturing. This role is hands-on and shop-floor focused, with responsibility for process setup, production stabilisation, operator supervision, test readiness, and cross-functional issue resolution.

Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Setup and Production Readiness

- Set up production flows, line layouts, workstations, tooling, and fixtures.
- Define manpower, capacity, cycle times, and line balancing for planned production volumes.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, process parameters, inspection checkpoints, control plans, and reaction plans.
- Lead process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) with Engineering and Quality.
- Lead current product introduction (NPI), pilot builds, and production trials.
- Verify equipment, material, operator, and test readiness before production release.
- Control engineering changes and ensure the correct bill of materials, assembly instructions, machine programs, and firmware revisions are used.
- Maintain component lot and product serial number traceability.

SMT and Box Build Ownership
- Own SMT execution across solder paste printing, placement, reflow, and inspection.
- Establish setup verification, approved process windows, and changeover controls.
- Review solder paste inspection (SPI) and automated optical inspection (AOI) results.
- Ensure proper solder paste storage and handling, moisture-sensitive component controls, electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, soldering quality, and controlled rework practices.
- Own box build from PCBA integration through mechanical assembly, wiring and harnesses, torque control, firmware loading, functional testing, labelling, and packing.
- Deliver production plans through effective material, manpower, and equipment allocation.
- Coordinate maintenance and calibration, resolve bottlenecks,



and manage EMS partner execution where applicable.

Process Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
- Run daily production reviews covering plan versus actual output, first pass yield, defects, downtime, cycle time, work in progress, scrap, and rework.
- Track overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) where applicable.
- Use defect Pareto analysis, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, and statistical process control where appropriate.
- Assign corrective actions, verify effectiveness, and update process controls.
- Lead measurable improvements using line balancing, 5S, Kaizen, mistake proofing, changeover reduction, and practical automation.
- Sustain improvements through audits and operator training.

Testing Tools and Production Software
- Own readiness and daily operation of production test stations, including in-circuit testing, functional testing, and end-of-line testing where applicable.
- Coordinate test coverage and acceptance limits with Engineering and Quality.
- Work with test fixtures, programmers, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads.
- Ensure fixture maintenance, calibration, and checks using approved reference units.
- Support firmware flashing, device configuration, and calibration.
- Work with test engineers to troubleshoot station hardware, test software, and product failures.
- Use approved test software and firmware versions, retain test logs against product serial numbers, and analyse failure trends.
- Maintain controls for retesting, test bypasses, and release of failed units.
- Use ERP or manufacturing execution systems (MES), traceability tools, and Excel or reporting dashboards.

Team Leadership and Quality Discipline
- Lead operators and technicians on the production floor.
- Maintain a skills matrix, train teams against approved work instructions,



and verify competence before independent operation.
- Enforce safe working practices and process adherence.
- Stop or contain production when safety, quality, or process limits are breached.
- Coordinate approved recovery and release actions.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and service teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Convert field failure feedback into process improvements.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of relevant electronics manufacturing experience.
- Hands-on experience in both SMT and box build.
- Experience with process setup, production stabilisation, and shop-floor team supervision.
- Demonstrated improvements in yield, throughput, downtime, scrap, or conversion cost, supported by production data.
- Working knowledge of production testing, electronic schematics, assembly drawings, bills of materials, ESD controls, and applicable workmanship requirements.
- Ability to interpret test results, use manufacturing software, maintain process documentation, and coordinate technical issue resolution across teams.
- Ability to work full-time from Bytebeam’s Bangalore office.

Useful Experience
- Experience supporting PPAP/APQP submissions where customer or sector requirements apply.
- Exposure to LabVIEW, test utilities, or similar automation tools.
- Experience working with EMS partners.
- Experience in connected vehicle, automotive electronics, or IoT hardware manufacturing.

What Success Looks Like
- Production lines are set up with clear layouts, process controls, work instructions, inspection checkpoints, and traceability.
- SMT and box build execution is stable, measurable, and controlled through daily production reviews.
- Test stations, fixtures, firmware versions, and release controls are production-ready and consistently maintained.
- Yield, throughput, downtime, scrap, and rework are tracked and improved through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Operators and technicians are trained, supervised, and held to approved process and quality standards.
