About the Role
We are looking for a Product Manager to own and scale our UPI Third-Party Application Provider (TPAP) journey. You will be responsible for driving the end-to-end UPI product experience — onboarding, payment flows, reliability, and growth — while working closely with our PSP bank partners and staying aligned with NPCI's evolving rules and guidelines. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to build a payment product used by millions of users every day.
What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end UPI TPAP product journey — VPA creation, device binding, UPI registration/onboarding, mandate/autopay, collect & pay flows, and transaction lifecycle management.
- Define and drive the product roadmap for scaling UPI as a TPAP, balancing user experience, compliance, and business metrics (success rate, activation, retention).
- Track and implement NPCI circulars, guidelines, and API version updates (UPI 2.0, UPI Lite, UPI Lite X, Credit Line on UPI, AutoPay, RuPay Credit on UPI, etc.) — translating regulatory/technical changes into product and engineering requirements.
- Own product metrics such as transaction success rate (TSR), latency, decline/failure analysis, and NPCI-mandated SLAs; work with engineering and ops to improve them.
- Write detailed PRDs, user stories, and flows; work with design and engineering to ship features.
- Drive UAT, certification testing with NPCI/PSP, and manage go-live checklists for new features or PSP bank additions.
- Analyze transaction and funnel data to identify drop-offs, fraud patterns, and growth opportunities across the UPI stack.
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, and customer support teams to ensure grievance redressal, chargeback, and dispute management flows meet NPCI TAT requirements.
- Liaise with external stakeholders — NPCI, PSP banks, payment aggregators — to unblock issues and represent product interests in ecosystem forums.
What We're Looking For
- 2–4 years of product management experience, with meaningful exposure to building or scaling a UPI TPAP product (fintech, banking, or payments company).
- Strong working knowledge of the UPI ecosystem — NPCI, PSP, TPAP roles, transaction flows (P2P, P2M, collect, intent, QR), and the UPI switch architecture.
- Familiarity with NPCI guidelines and circulars — onboarding requirements, transaction limits, security protocols,
and compliance mandates for TPAPs.
- Proven experience shipping payment products end-to-end — from PRD to launch to post-launch iteration.
- Comfort with data — able to define metrics, analyze funnels (SQL/Excel proficiency preferred), and make data-backed prioritization calls.
- Experience working with PSP banks or NPCI-facing integrations/certifications is a strong plus.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills — you'll coordinate across engineering, design, compliance, risk, and external banking/NPCI partners.
- Strong written communication for PRDs, NPCI documentation responses, and cross-team alignment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field; MBA is a plus but not mandatory.
Good to Have
- Exposure to UPI Lite, UPI AutoPay/Mandates, Credit Line on UPI, or UPI International.
- Understanding of payment risk, fraud detection, and chargeback/dispute mechanisms in UPI.
- Prior experience at a fintech app, payment aggregator, PSP bank, or NPCI-linked organization.
