About the Business:
Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.
Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management ICs, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCUs), and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand across automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications, and artificial intelligence markets.

Responsibilities:
RFQ Review & Technical Assessment
- Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, BOMs, data packages, and customer standards to identify gaps and prepare structured clarification lists.
- Evaluate electrical design feasibility, manufacturability, supply chain risks, and technical compliance requirements.
Electrical DFM/DFx Ownership
- Own electrical DFM/DFx activities, including schematic reviews, netlist validation, PCB layout assessments, and stack-up evaluations.
- Assess designs against IPC-2221 and IPC-6012 standards to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and product quality.
- Evaluate Design for Test (DFT) requirements, probe access strategies, and test coverage considerations.
Design Risk & Component Assessment
- Conduct component derating analysis and identify electrical risks impacting product reliability and manufacturing performance.
- Perform BOM risk analysis, lifecycle management reviews, and second-source component assessments to ensure supply chain resilience.
- Identify technical risks and develop evidence-based recommendations to support proposal decisions and project execution.
Solution Development & Costing Support
- Define technical solutions, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Develop estimates for resource loading, tooling requirements, NRE costs, CapEx investments, lead-time planning, and implementation milestones.
- Prepare technical calculations, compliance matrices, proposal narratives, costing inputs, and management approval documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer teams to ensure technically feasible and executable solutions.
- Challenge unsupported assumptions and resolve inconsistencies across engineering, process, test, quality, automation, and supply chain workstreams.
Supplier & Customer Engagement
- Support supplier technical evaluations, quotation reviews, and make-versus-buy analyses.
- Participate in customer clarification meetings, solution reviews, Red Team reviews, and Gold Team reviews to ensure proposal readiness and timely closure of actions.
NPI & Volume Manufacturing Readiness
- Support cross-functional design transfer activities into NPI and volume manufacturing.
- Define validation requirements, acceptance criteria, and key deliverables required for successful execution of awarded programs.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain controlled templates, lessons learned, engineering databases, and reusable estimation data for future bids and programs.
- Ensure compliance with Tata Electronics information security, confidentiality, quality, and document control requirements.
Essential Attributes:
1. Strong expertise in electrical DFM/DFx methodologies,
PCB design reviews, and manufacturability assessments.
2. Experience in schematic review, netlist validation, PCB stack-up evaluation, and design compliance to IPC-2221 and IPC-6012 standards.
3. Knowledge of Design for Test (DFT), probe accessibility requirements, test coverage analysis, and manufacturing test strategies.
4. Experience performing component derating studies, reliability assessments, and electrical risk analysis.
5. Solid understanding of BOM risk management, component lifecycle monitoring, and second-source qualification strategies.
6. Experience in product lifecycle management, engineering change control, configuration management, and release governance.
7. Proven experience supporting customer RFQs, technical proposals, NPI programs, or manufacturing industrialization projects within EMS or complex product environments.
8. Ability to identify technical risks, develop validation plans, and provide data-driven recommendations.
9. Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
10. Ability to work effectively with global customers and suppliers across multiple time zones and travel as required.
Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or another discipline relevant to the role.
- Postgraduate specialization in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Design, Embedded Systems, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
Desired Experience Level:
- 8-12 years of experience in Product Engineering, Electrical Engineering, PCB Design Validation, DFM/DFx Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing Industrialization, or related engineering functions within EMS, Electronics Manufacturing, Semiconductor, Telecommunications, Automotive, or other complex manufacturing environments.
