Role Overview

As Process Engineer, you will take independent technical ownership of the Desalter system (high-pressure DSRO combined with a fixed/fluidised bed reactor for sulfate reduction) at the 4.8 MLD ZLD Plant, Agucha. You will be the site's primary technical counterpart for the desalter technology partner driving commissioning support, performance troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the desalter system in close coordination with the Plant Manager and the process design team.

1. Process Operations & Performance

- Own end-to-end operation and performance of the DSRO (high-pressure RO) and fixed/fluidised bed reactor (FBR) sulfate-reduction system.
- Monitor and optimise recovery, sulfate removal efficiency, membrane performance, and fouling/scaling trends.
- Diagnose and resolve FBR and DSRO performance issues, including those linked to Antiscalant/phosphonate carryover from upstream stages.
- Own the membrane cleaning-in-place (CIP) programme and drive membrane life and reliability optimisation.

2. Technology Partner Interface

- Act as the primary site-level technical point of contact with the desalter technology partner for commissioning support, performance guarantees, spares, and troubleshooting.
- Track, follow up, and close out the technology partner's technical action items and open queries.
- Coordinate site trials, technical reviews, and performance discussions with the technology partner's technical team.




- Prepare and issue formal technical correspondence and reports to the technology partner and management on system performance and outstanding issues.

3. Trials, Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain performance logs, trend reports, and technical notes on desalter/FBR system performance.
- Support scaling-chemistry studies (BaSO, SrSO, CaSO) and Antiscalant optimisation trials affecting desalter performance.
- Prepare technical process notes and trial summaries for internal review and client reporting.

4. Continuous Improvement

- Drive process improvements to stabilise recovery, reduce fouling/scaling incidents, and improve overall desalter reliability.
- Support evaluation of alternative equipment, media, or dosing strategies in coordination with the process design team.

5. Compliance & Safety

- Ensure strict adherence to SOPs and HSSE protocols for all desalter operations and trials.
- Support audits, client reviews, and statutory compliance requirements relevant to the system.

Qualifications & Experience

- B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering; M.Tech or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in RO/membrane-based treatment systems, with meaningful exposure to ZLD, desalination, or high-pressure RO / sulfate-reduction (FBR) technologies.
- Strong understanding of scaling chemistry (CaSO, BaSO, SrSO) and Antiscalant technology as it affects membrane and reactor performance.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with technology OEMs on commissioning, performance guarantees, and troubleshooting.
- Sound understanding of HSSE systems and statutory compliance for industrial process plants.
