Role Description The Prepress Executive is a full-time on-site role based in Kanakapura, responsible for preparing digital files for print production and ensuring accuracy before final output. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing artwork and layouts, performing file checks, and making necessary corrections to meet printing specifications and quality standards.

The role involves working closely with designers, production teams, and vendors to ensure color accuracy, proper resolution, bleed, and alignment, as well as troubleshooting file issues and minimizing errors in the printing process.

The Prepress

Executive will also maintain organized documentation, adhere to production timelines, and support continuous improvement in prepress workflows and tools.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Prepress Executive to manage and execute prepress activities for packaging artworks, ensuring that all files are technically accurate, production-ready, and meet customer specifications and quality standards.

The candidate will be responsible for artwork checking, preflight, trapping, imposition, color separation, proofing, and coordination with internal teams and customers to ensure smooth execution from artwork approval to final production.

Key Responsibilities

1. Artwork & Prepress

- Review customer artworks and packaging specifications for technical feasibility.
- Prepare and modify artworks as per approved specifications and production requirements.
- Perform detailed preflight checks before releasing files for production.
- Check dimensions, bleeds, margins, dielines, barcodes, text, logos, symbols, and other critical artwork elements.
- Ensure correct placement and alignment of all artwork components.
- Identify potential printing and finishing issues before production.

Color Management

- Handle CMYK, Pantone and spot-color separations.
- Ensure Pantone shades are matched as per the approved Pantone reference/library.
- Ensure CMYK shades are matched against approved shade cards or customer-approved references.
- Understand basic color management principles and printing limitations.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to resolve color-related issues.

3. Packaging Prepress

- Work with packaging dielines, cutting lines, creasing, perforation, embossing, foil, varnish, coating and other finishing elements.
- Ensure correct separation and identification of printing and finishing layers.
- Check artwork against approved packaging specifications before production.
- Prepare production-ready files for offset and other applicable printing processes.
- Support artwork corrections required based on machine and process limitations.

4. Software Skills The candidate should have hands-on experience with:

- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- CorelDRAW
- Esko / Automation Engine
- PDF preflight and production tools
- Basic knowledge of imposition and plate-making workflow

5. Quality & Process Control

- Follow established prepress checklists and approval procedures.
- Ensure that only approved artwork versions are released for production.
- Maintain proper revision control and artwork records.




- Verify customer-approved artworks against production files.
- Support root-cause analysis for artwork and printing-related issues.
- Implement preventive actions to avoid repeated artwork/prepress errors.

6. Coordination

- Coordinate closely with NPD, Production, Quality, Sales/Customer Service and Printing teams.
- Clarify technical issues with customers and internal teams whenever required.
- Support preparation of mock-ups, digital proofs and trial samples.
- Participate in printing trials and provide technical prepress support.
- Ensure timely completion of artwork-related activities as per production requirements.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of packaging artwork and prepress processes.
- Good understanding of offset printing and printing limitations.
- Knowledge of Pantone, CMYK, spot colors and color separation.
- Positive understanding of trapping, overprint, knockout, bleed and registration.
- Ability to identify artwork errors and production risks.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple SKUs simultaneously.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Strong documentation and revision-control discipline.

Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in the following areas will be preferred:
- Folding cartons
- Pharmaceutical packaging
- FMCG packaging
- Consumer product packaging
- Offset printing
- Packaging artwork development
- Esko workflow / ArtiosCAD
- Color management and proofing

Qualification
- Education: Diploma / Degree in Graphic Design, Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience in Packaging Prepress / Printing Prepress.
