Role Summary The Polarion Developer will configure, customize, and extend Siemens Polarion ALM to support migration from a legacy RV&S; / ELM-style environment. The role converts approved functional and migration mappings into deployable Polarion project templates, work item models, workflows, permissions, LiveDocs, reports, dashboards, scripts, and integrations. The developer also supports migration rehearsals, defect triage, technical validation, deployment packaging, and handover documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Configure Polarion projects, spaces, work item types, fields, enumerations, link roles, form layouts, workflows, permissions, notifications, and reusable templates based on approved solution design.
- Develop Polarion customizations such as workflow functions and conditions, widgets, reports, dashboards, scheduled jobs, import/export helpers, and administrative scripts using supported APIs and scripting approaches.
- Build or enhance migration utilities and transformation scripts for loading mapped artifacts, relationships, attachments, comments, status values, and reference data into Polarion where appropriate.
- Implement LiveDocs structures, document templates, traceability views, approval flows, and baseline/reuse patterns aligned to target process requirements.
- Use Polarion REST API, SDK/Open API, scripting, and database/reporting approaches to support integrations, data verification, reporting, and automation.
- Collaborate with the ALM Functional Lead and Migration Analyst to translate field mappings, state mappings, relationship rules, and validation defects into technical changes.
- Support migration dry runs, troubleshoot import/load errors, analyze logs, correct configuration issues, and participate in reconciliation and UAT defect remediation.
- Package, version, document, and promote configuration/customization changes across non-production and production environments following agreed release controls.
- Create technical documentation, deployment notes, configuration inventories, and knowledge-transfer material for support and operations teams.
- Follow secure coding, access-control, auditability,



and maintainability expectations for enterprise ALM environments.

Required Qualifications

- Hands-on experience implementing or customizing Siemens Polarion ALM or a comparable enterprise ALM platform.
- Strong understanding of Polarion work items, LiveDocs, workflows, permissions, dashboards, reports, project templates, and traceability relationships.
- Development experience with Java or Java-based platforms and practical scripting experience using Groovy, Velocity, JavaScript, Python, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML, Postman or similar API tools, SQL or reporting queries, and source control such as Git.
- Experience supporting ALM migration, data import/export, tool integration, or platform modernization activities.
- Ability to analyze functional specifications and convert them into reliable, testable, and documented Polarion configurations or extensions.
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with IBM DOORS / DOORS Next, PTC Windchill RV&S;, codeBeamer, Jira, or other ALM systems.
- Experience with ReqIF, Word/Excel import patterns, migration mapping, data reconciliation, traceability validation, and regulated engineering environments.
- Knowledge of OSLC, PLM-ALM integration patterns, CI/CD tooling, Jenkins, Maven/Ant, GitHub/GitLab/Azure Repos, and test automation integrations.
- Experience building custom Polarion widgets, BIRT/Velocity reports, live reports, workflow extensions, custom jobs, or API-based integrations.
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, medical device, industrial, or other compliance-driven engineering domains is beneficial but not mandatory.
