Job Responsibilities

- Purpose of the Role - Drive day-to-day plant operations including managing personnel, production processes, equipment maintenance, and product quality, while ensuring HSEF aspects, process efficiency, achievement of production targets, and maintaining overall unit/ plant health while adhering to all organizational and regulatory requirements in sustainable way

- Responsibilities -
- Functional Planning and Strategy -
- Create the plant's short and long term strategy in adherence to Business and Segment Level Asset Ops Strategy, and develop roadmap/ plans to ensure adherence to overall business objectives and goals
- Drive end to end execution / implementation of strategy through the cross disciplinary team based at the plant
- Collaborate with Business &
- Segment leadership to identify new initiatives/ projects and set operational plans that meet these future demands
- Review the technology and engineering roadmap for the plant, provide inputs from manufacturing point of view and align own plans as per requirement
- Drive the plant's budgeting cycle & process and provide inputs on budget allocation for plant operations
- Oversee deployment of own budget and ensure efficient utilization and minimum variance in target v/s actual norms
- Production Operations -
- Oversee day to day operations through continuous review of performance parameters such as production volumes, capacity utilization, costs, operating efficiencies, actual vs. planned production, raw material/ energy consumption, market demand and forecasting for all products to ensure targets are being achieved
- Review rejection analysis and root cause analysis of quality related issues including any customer complaints, and provide inputs to the team on delivering best-in-class quality as per RIL standards
- Develop and monitor plant level annual/ quarterly/ monthly operating cost projections and ensure minimal deviations
- Recommend plant level cost reduction initiatives by tracking rejection, productivity, energy, mechanization / automation costs across sections and drive action plans for cost optimization
- Promote elevation in day-to-day operations of the plant by encouraging employee involvement in best practices (QCC, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S,etc)
- Ensure seamless coordination between manufacturing , CES and CTS teams at the plant and ensure alignment of actions/ objectives as per requirement
- Monitor OMPRO and other Critical KPI's and take needful corrective and preventive actions for sustenance as per defined targets
- Plant Maintenance -
- Monitor and analyse weekly/monthly performance of teams related to OEE , MTBF, MTTR as per plan, through structured review meetings and initiate corrective actions on gaps in performance to meet customer requirement
- Track loss in production due to machinery breakdown,



review root-cause analysis reports and take appropriate action to ensure production as per plan.
- Oversee the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties / stake holders
- Innovate and work towards adopting current technologies in collaboration with Technology and other team to increase automation/ efficiency across the plant
- Initiate and drive implementation of change management programs to improve productivity and ensure availability of the machines/ equipment
- Approve required consumables, spares, tools and labour as per requirement of the maintenance to ensure adherence to production and maintenance schedules
- Review any persistent issues related to machine/ equipment downtime and guide maintenance team to ensure early resolution
- Process Safety, Workplace Safety &
- Environment -
- Review plant related safety, fire and environmental processes and compliance norms and ensure all plant operations are aligned with the same in order to provide safe working environment to all plant personnels
- Monitor and control any fire, leak, spillage or safety incident which may potentially lead to injury or loss of production, and take appropriate action to mitigate such risks
- Periodically Review cases of any potential safety, fire and environmental issues/ hazards, identify root cause , take appropriate steps to mitigate any challenges and ensure the healthiness of the barriers as mentioned in Risk registers.
- Review the plant Risk register as per defined frequency and ensure the mitigative actions , barriers are in place
- Investigate key safety incidents along with Safety teams, draft action plans and implement the same to ensure non-recurrence
- Track all compliance/ legal norms and documentations required from safety, fire and environmental point of view and ensure up to date filing of the same
- Align plant processes to all environmental related objectives and ensure contribution to overall organizational environmental commitments
- Lead emergency operations in case of any safety or fire incidents, and coordinate with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure quick closure
- Ensure up-to-date skills on emergency response by process and maintenance persons by frequent training, drills, awareness sessions.
- Audit &
- Compliance -
- Ensure compliance of all departments with respect to regulatory and legal related norms
- Facilitate regulatory audits in the plant, by ensuring that all relevant data and information is provided to the auditors during plant visit within timelines; review any cases on non-compliance and take corrective steps to ensure adherence
- Stakeholder Management -




- Liaison with government agencies as per requirement to get approvals and licenses, and ensure regular engagement with external stakeholders
- Monitor employee relations issues and take appropriate action, Ensure high employee engagement at plant.
- Participate in corporate social responsibilities initiatives driven by the company and drive high level of engagement with local communities as per requirement.
- Policies, Processes and Procedures -
- Create standard policies, processes, procedures for the plant aligned with Segment and Business level policies, and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement
- Oversee day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures and take action in case of any non-compliance
- People Management-
- Instil a culture of continuous development and high performance within own team
- Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team
- Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance
- Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities
- Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions
- Ensure that all the Operations team members are competent following the CAS and facilitate the required training to ensure the desired competencies are met with

- 9-12 years of experience with significant experience in medium to large petrochemical plants at least at production manager level
