Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Plant Head / General Manager to lead and manage the overall manufacturing operations of a Nutraceutical / Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

The candidate will be responsible for Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Warehouse, Planning, and overall plant operations, ensuring compliance with applicable GMP, regulatory, quality, safety, and statutory requirements.

The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on experience in manufacturing Tablets, Capsules, Powders, and Gummies, along with a sound understanding of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical quality systems and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations & Production

- Overall responsibility for day-to-day plant operations and manufacturing activities.
- Plan, organize, and monitor production of:

- Tablets

- Capsules

- Powders

- Gummies
- Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned timelines, cost, quality, and productivity parameters.
- Prepare and monitor production plans in coordination with Production Planning, Quality, Warehouse, and Sales/Business teams.
- Optimize manpower, machinery, materials, and production capacity.
- Monitor manufacturing yields, productivity, downtime, rejection, wastage, and overall equipment utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.

2. Quality Assurance & Quality Control

- Ensure effective implementation of GMP, Quality Management Systems, SOPs, and Good Documentation Practices.
- Work closely with QA and QC teams to ensure compliance with established specifications and quality standards.

- Ensure timely release of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products in coordination with QA/QC.
- Promote a strong quality culture throughout the plant.

3. Regulatory Affairs

- Coordinate with the Regulatory Affairs team regarding applicable regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical/nutraceutical products.
- Ensure plant operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements and licenses.
- Support regulatory inspections and customer audits.




- Coordinate preparation of documents and responses for regulatory authorities and auditors.
- Ensure timely implementation and closure of regulatory observations.

4. Production Planning & Inventory

- Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Warehouse, QA/QC, and Production Planning teams for uninterrupted manufacturing.
- Ensure adequate availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and minimize material wastage and production losses.
- Ensure proper material handling, storage, and traceability.

5. Engineering & Maintenance

- Coordinate with Engineering/Maintenance teams to ensure maximum availability and reliability of production equipment.
- Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance programs are effectively implemented.
- Monitor utilities such as HVAC, compressed air, water systems, electrical systems, and other critical utilities as applicable.
- Support installation, qualification, validation, and commissioning of new equipment.

6. People & Team Management

- Lead and motivate Production, QA, QC, Warehouse, Engineering, and other plant teams.
- Define departmental objectives and monitor individual/team performance.
- Identify training requirements and ensure appropriate training programs are conducted.
- Develop a culture of accountability, discipline, teamwork, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Manage manpower requirements and optimize workforce utilization.

7. Compliance, Safety & EHS

- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, environmental, occupational health, and safety requirements.
- Promote safe working practices throughout the plant.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of manufacturing waste.
- Coordinate with relevant statutory and regulatory authorities as required.

8. Cost Control & Business Performance

- Prepare and monitor plant operating budgets.
- Control manufacturing costs without compromising product quality or regulatory compliance.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as:

- Production output

- Production efficiency

- Yield

- Rejection

- Wastage

- Labour productivity

- Machine utilization

- Cost per unit
- On-time production
- Implement measures for productivity improvement and cost optimization.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of Nutraceutical / Pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
- Practical experience in Tablets, Capsules, Powders, and Gummies manufacturing.




- Good understanding of GMP and Quality Management Systems.
- Working knowledge of QA, QC, Production, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.

Qualification

- B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Sc. / M.Sc. / B.Tech / M.Tech or equivalent qualification in Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Additional qualification in Management / Operations Management will be an advantage.

Experience

- 10–15 years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical / Nutraceutical manufacturing.
- Candidates with significant experience in a Plant Head, General Manager, Senior Production Manager, or equivalent leadership position will be preferred.
- Experience in managing a complete manufacturing facility and cross-functional teams will be an advantage.

Experience in QA, QC, Regulatory Affairs, GMP compliance, audits, validation, and regulatory inspections will be highly preferred.

Candidate Profile The successful candidate should be a hands-on plant leader capable of managing the complete manufacturing operation, coordinating effectively with Production, QA, QC, Regulatory, Engineering, Warehouse, and Planning functions, and ensuring that the plant delivers quality products on time, at optimum cost, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements. Note: Candidates with experience in both Nutraceutical and Pharmaceutical manufacturing, particularly in Tablets, Capsules, Powders, and Gummies, will be given preference.
