Job Summary The Ayurvedic Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of Ayurvedic medicines prescribed by authorized physicians. The role includes pharmacy inventory management, medicine preparation and storage, maintaining pharmacy records, ensuring quality and hygiene standards, and supporting smooth day-to-day pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Dispense Ayurvedic medicines according to prescriptions and physician instructions.
- Verify prescriptions, dosage, quantity, patient details, and medicine instructions before dispensing.
- Prepare, compound, or process Ayurvedic formulations as per approved procedures, where applicable.
- Maintain proper storage of Ayurvedic medicines, raw materials, oils, ghee, powders, tablets, decoctions, and other formulations.
- Monitor medicine expiry dates, batch numbers, stock levels, and storage conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of dispensing, stock receipts, issues, returns, wastage, and expired medicines.
- Coordinate with Ayurvedic physicians, nursing staff, stores, and other hospital departments regarding medication requirements.
- Ensure proper labeling of medicines, including patient name, medicine name, dosage, route, frequency, and relevant instructions.
- Follow applicable hospital SOPs, pharmacy procedures, hygiene requirements, and regulatory standards.




- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy and medicine storage areas.
- Assist with procurement and inventory planning to prevent stock-outs and excess inventory.
- Check incoming medicines and materials for quantity, packaging, batch details, expiry, and other required specifications.
- Handle controlled, restricted, or high-value medicines according to applicable rules and hospital procedures.
- Provide patients with appropriate instructions regarding medicine use, storage, and administration when required.
- Report medication-related discrepancies, adverse reactions, damaged stock, and other concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Participate in audits, stock verification, quality checks, and hospital accreditation activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
- Perform other pharmacy-related duties assigned by the Pharmacy In-charge or hospital management.

Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or an Ayurvedic Pharmacy qualification recognized by the applicable regulatory authority.
- Valid registration with the relevant State Pharmacy Council/competent authority, wherever applicable.
- Knowledge of Ayurvedic medicines, formulations, dosage forms, storage requirements,



and dispensing practices.
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy inventory and documentation systems.

Experience
- Preferred: 1–3 years of experience in an Ayurvedic hospital, Ayurvedic pharmacy, wellness center, or healthcare setting.

Required Skills
- Good knowledge of Ayurvedic medicines and formulations.
- Accurate prescription reading and dispensing.
- Inventory and stock-management skills.
- Valuable documentation and record-keeping.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with pharmacy/hospital software.
- Good communication and patient-handling skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to medication safety.
- Ability to work effectively with doctors, nurses, therapists, and other hospital staff.

Working Conditions
- Work primarily within the hospital pharmacy and medicine-storage areas.
- May involve standing for extended periods and handling medicines and pharmacy materials.
- May require rotational shifts, weekends, or holidays depending on hospital requirements.
